I've never had to do it but if you log on or have the app you can dispute the edit as well!

the only time they should be editing punches is if you either forget to clock back in or out really. if you worked the hours, you should get paid.

for example, for closing we sometimes leave later than scheduled, but we still get paid for that time since we put in the labor

First, always get paid for your labor!! Even if it’s an accident, if you are doing work you get paid!!

Second, your shift should not be blaming you it’s on them as much as it’s on you too know when your off.

>No, you won’t get paid since someone edited the punches. It’s illegal for them to edit punches though. I haven’t worked at Starbucks in years, so I don’t remember if shifts have the ability to edit punches. If they do, then bring this up with your manager immediately. If they don’t, then it means your manager was likely editing the punches and you should bring this up with the DM.

this.

if health code doesn't allow us to wear watches, and they don't want us messing with our phones, then they need to be keeping up with when folks need to leave.

Just talk to your SM about the situation, they might’ve thought it was a mistake and edited you down (they should’ve reached out to you on Monday though). They’ll either fix it or you’ll need to contact your DM (they’ll definitely fix it for you)!
raewayward 3 points 1y ago
You can dispute an edit. Sometimes mistakes happen, did you physically clock out?

Whoever edited your punch can get fired- Starbucks is soooo strict on this. Time worked is time paid, Starbucks believes this so strongly that one can get fired for working off the clock. In the same way, editing punches fraudulently is highly illegal and Starbucks corporate needs to know about it. Let your DM know, let corporate know, and if you don’t hear anything from them let the labor board know. Starbucks is big on the time worked time paid thing so as to avoid lawsuits. This is definitely lawsuit worthy.

Whoever edited your punch is either not smart or just simply doesn’t think you’ll do anything about it. You’ve got ammo my friend. Keep us posted!

your shift lead shouldn’t rely on you telling them anything. part of the job is time management and paying attention to the partners you’re leading on shift.

if they can’t remember when you’re off and you don’t leave because of it, that’s their own personal failure in leadership.

Report it to your department of labor. They will be very happy to get a notice from them.
happyzeb 3 points 1y ago
one of the many many reasons i left sbux was because my sm would sometimes (like once a week or every two weeks) edit punches without telling anyone and would only fix it if you brought it up to him. he would always say he "did it on accident" but how do you constantly edit people's punches on "accident"
foxxy_roxxy 2 points 1y ago
yeah you need to call PCC! that happened to a friend of mine and her manager got fired cause it turns out she was doing it to a few people.
permanently_anxious 2 points 1y ago
Uh...yeah? Are you not getting paid? Call PCC
heytherecomputer 2 points 1y ago
Report this to your DM and if that doesn’t work, report it to corporate. That’s absolutely illegal. If you feel so inclined, report it to the Department of Labor. Seriously, don’t fuck around with this. This is wage theft and really REALLY illegal. I HIGHLY recommend escalating as far as it takes to get results. If they do this once they will do it again.
Brilliant-Cod-9083 2 points 1y ago
if you took any pictures during those thirty minutes, use the time stamp as evidence. cos thats illegal
crzyshiba 2 points 1y ago
On the edited punches it says if you agree or disagree should be an option
Sdee1234 6 points 1y ago
Yes you can dispute it in the system! This is called wage theft and it is 100% illegal. If anything, the ssv would get in trouble for not sliding you out on time. But time worked is wages earned. No exceptions.
crzyshiba 5 points 1y ago
Yes my previous SM got fired for this exact same thing and shorting us hours every week basically running the store on 4 partner play almost every peek etc.. so definitely let your DM know. Also if you do stay over I always say it was busy and definitely should get paid for it
jazzysoranio 2 points 1y ago
Any edits to your time punches need to be logged in writing in the daily records book. If its mid-month you should still be able to see that book and see what edits were made.

Who knows what the shift told your SM tell them you worked over time.
defendpoppunk77 1 points 1y ago
Talk to your SM, and give them the chance to make it right. If they don’t, report them. That’s wage theft and it’s illegal. Time worked is time paid.
Idkwhatimdoimgheree 1 points 1y ago
The only time my store manager ever edited my punches was when I’d clock in at 4:33am instead of 4:30am and clock out at 11:05am instead of 11:00am. Thirty minutes though? That’s not okay and you should definitely being this up with them. If they get an attitude, tell your DM because you deserve to be paid for your labor.
dthomp0806 1 points 1y ago
That's also illegal. If that's the time you punched in and out and started/stopped work, they shouldn't be editing that.
itsnnotdamiann 1 points 1y ago
Very against the law, and only the SM and ASM have the ability to edit punches so it looks like the shift lead that day went and lied to your SM or ASM. Report it to corporate because the shift lead should've been checking the DCR to make sure everyone was getting breaks on time anyway.
darkwolf523 1 points 1y ago
You should get paid for overtime. And if not, talk to your manager! But if that doesn’t work, and if he or she was the one that did it, then take it to your DM. I would also recommend checking your state labor law but here’s what I found on the FLSA. The FLSA requires overtime pay when a "non-exempt" employee works more than 40 hours in a workweek. Yea
