Two things:
1) You could wait for the eviction notice or the notice that you are late and take that and apply to cup fund
2) Use vacation pay to top up your pay

just adding that if you don’t have vacation hours, you might have sick hours, and you can almost certainly cash those in

You find out on the partner hub. Have you been there over a year? You only start to accumulate vacation hours after a year of working
KatySheets 5 points 1y ago
I know it’s uncomfortable, but can you talk to your landlord/roommates to see if you can be late on the remaining balance? Super shitty. I’m really sorry.

Starbucks does not do that. Donate blood plasma. They have first donor Incentives. Around $100/$200 each for the first couple donations. You can do them twice a week. With only 1 day separating the donations.

It’s a pain in the ass to first register to do it. Like 2/3 hours of work. You can Google the location and they have rules of what needs to be done in order for you to donate etc. But they’re usually easy to follow. Majority ppl can donate. I personally prefer Grifols. It’s where I used to go to a WHILE ago when I needed extra cash.

Apply for the CUP fund

There’s an app called Earnin that allows you to pull money out of your paycheck early. It’s basically allowing you to borrow their money for you to pay them back (nothing extra if you don’t tip). It’s been a life savor in situations that I’m $100 short on rent.

There is a... like a dailypay app I think? But I've only ever known one person who has used it and I have no idea what the app is called, how to set it up, or how to use it.

Have you called your landlord and discussed the situation with them? They may be willing to work it out with you!

I think we used to do pay advances, but don’t seem to offer them anymore for personal emergencies. You should definitely see if you qualify for cup fund, though.

Also- You don’t have to wait for your manager to borrow you to another store to pickup shifts fyi- they only need to include the store in your borrow sites for payroll before the following Monday (so the SM at the other store can enter your punch).

Yes, you can ask for an advance on your salary or try the cup fund

I bank with CapitalOne and they pay us two days early.

I switched to the Chime app to get my direct deposit (it's an online banking system, no fees, really great stuff) and they now send me my check Wednesday morning instead of Friday! Has definitely been a help since hours were cut

It definitely depends on your manager, but I do know they still offer advanced pay. You don't necessarily need to detail your emergency, but if you ask your SM, they have to clear the advance with the DM first, and once they do you get a form to sign asking you how much you need advanced, both parties sign off, and it's basically a contract saying that you'll repay the money in 2 weeks (14 days), either through cash or your paycheck I suppose. Not sure on the specifics, but I did this literally 4 months ago (in December 2020) for the same reasons you're saying you need the advance, so I know it's still possible as long as both the SM and DM agree to it!

Do you have a 401K set up? You can take a loan out as well - processes super fast. Then pay it back after getting paid.

There are cash advance apps that allow you to cash up to around $100 for your pay. You just have to connect to your bank. I use MoneyLion, Dave or Earnin. You'll probably have to use two of them for $200 depending on how much you get paid. They will automatically take part of the paycheck you owe when it's payday. Also check if your bank allows overdrafts and what the fees are associated with that (some let you get away with overdrafting if you pay it back in 1-2 days). Like if you bank with Chase for instance.

Also if possible, ask your landlord for an extension. They probably won't mind if you show proof that you're getting paid or if you pay on time most of the time. You can also explain your situation on having surgery.

If I’m not mistaken you can ask your SM for an emergency advance that you just pay back the next time you get paid. I’ve seen it done once or twice at my store but I’m not sure if it’s a widespread thing or if Starbucks even offers it anymore.

If you were out for wisdom teeth, you should be able to use sick pay for it
polarizedspaghetti 1 points 1y ago
This won’t help for this specific time, but I use chime and get my direct deposit sent to its routing number. I get paid 2-3 days early and it helps build credit. I’m sorry about your situation!

Idk if anyone has said this but i know there are some apps that will give you $200 right away and then you pay them back later… not sure what the names are but i’ve seen ads. I doubt you can get paid any early.
nickintheback08 1 points 1y ago
Would at least try the cup fund as many are suggesting. Really just commenting to say best of luck, I know it’s a shitty situation.
threepeasonepod 1 points 1y ago
talk to your sm, they might be able to help you out. i know there was an issue at my store where a girl’s covid pay didn’t get submitted and she couldn’t pay her rent. i just kinda heard things in passing, since i was working while she was figuring this out with our managers, but it seemed like starbucks gave her an advance that was then taken out of her next paycheck.

edit: read some more comments to see other people saying bux doesn’t do anything like this. i could be wrong. she was working it out with our asm who was practically our mom (it’s like 98% college kids at our store). she was an angel and i really wouldn’t be surprised if she herself offered our partner a loan. like i said though, i could’ve sworn i heard talk of starbs paying her out early and collecting from her next check.

Donate blood/plasma, sign up for instacart and Uber eats. If worst comes to worst you can take out a private loan through nerdwallet or something. Best of luck!
Aliciarox11189 1 points 1y ago
There is a emergency fund (search it on the hub) its how to appeal for the advance
sam_strc 1 points 1y ago
Look up earnin! you can get as much money as you need early, just make sure to pay it back.
