Does anyone have the sickness policy on hand? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by xparxx
Update: I emailed my DM and called PCC to let them know what’s going on and now magically I have the day off and was offered to use my sick time if I wanted lol

I have some mental health issues and I’m attempting to call out right now, and being told that I have to come in if I’m not physically ill. I have BPD and PTSD, is this not a situation where I’m allowed to call out?

Mental health days are a thing. Honestly I’d lie and say I was physically sick to avoid the hassle in the future if you really need the day off to relax and unwind and help yourself.

Licensee ? Corporate? My manager has let ppl call out for mental health days I’m not sure official policy but ?

Corp, I’m gonna go look for my manual but I think it says that mental health days count as sick days

Yes that’s what I was thinking tbh. I hope it goes well !!!

i do believe there is someone where u can schedule personal mental health days off. My manager told me about it

You absolutely can call out for mental health days. My shift showed me that in the partner manual itself a week ago. If your manager is requiring you to come in when you're trying to use your sick hours then you need to tell your district manager they're abusing the sick policy because you are absolutely allowed to use sick days for mental health. Please do, take care of yourself :)

Thank you! I contacted my DM for clarification and possibly some back up because my GM follows sick policy for SOME folks but not everyone else and I’m truly in no shape to handle that all myself today. This reminded me that I have a partner manual laying around somewhere though so I’m gonna go dig that out

is this a new policy? last year i tried telling my old SM that i needed a mental health day off and she said that was not an excuse and i still had to come in 😭 i dont work at that store anymore so its not an issue, i just havent heard of this before!

Honestly I don’t think so, bux managers just love to play by their own rules so they were probably bullshitting you
