Starbucks policy is out of hand, thinking of quitting -rant(self.starbucksbaristas)

We all know working at Starucks is awful, just varying degrees, buy after 2.5 years I’m constantly looking for new jobs to apply to. A lot of my coworkers have quit to work at the local coffee show where they make better tips and don’t have customers screaming at them etc. A couple weeks ago I had my “personal growth update” thing they’re supposed to do every year and specifically told my SM that I didn’t want to move up in the company, the only reason I still work there is for my coworkers who I have tons of things in common with and are the only reason I come to work. They’re amazing people and we all fight customers for each other, we always assume they’re right and the customer is wrong (but when is that ever wrong?). This was my tipping point though, I came to work on time but with a bloody nose. Came in at my scheduled time, told the SM the deal and waited until it was done so I could clean up. She then marked me 30 minutes late for work even though I had been there the whole time, basically telling me “that sucks too bad oh well”. How absolute bonkers that is, when other shifts have counted me as on time when a cop threatened to pull his gun on me after pulling me over in front of the god damned store… and I needed to sit in the back for 30 minutes to calm down. But a nose bleed is apparently “not a good reason”, sure let me just spread blood onto all our surfaces. So today I went to a job interview I had 12 hours to prepare for that is paying 30$/hr (state job) and they seemed impressed with my qualifications, hopefully it went well. Absolute joke of a company after they’ve been denying me the trans benefits they so proudly tout to everyone for the last 5 months. Always a different excise why they refuse to cover all the things they list. Don’t treat your employees like shit and they wont leave you for other coffee shops or for jobs paying twice as much doing far less.

I dont think I’ll get the job. They wanted a specific degree and experience while I have an irrelevant degree and just enjoy helping people. Fingers crossed though👏

I hope it works out for you!

Also looking for a new job after being at Starbucks for a year, things have been going downhill for a while and we just got a new manager etc etc but yeah I believe in you finding somewhere better even if it isn’t that job you’re looking at right now

Send your interviewer a thank you note out today. Don’t sell yourself short you’re worth $30 and hour my dear.

honestly get out of the siren if you can, they brag about trans benefits, inclusiveness, etc but hardly show up to prove it. i cant get most of my partners to gender me correctly. the trans benefits are incredibly expensive and they won’t advertise that of course. and they only celebrate lgbt in pride month just like any other company

Forget even trans things, I have a problem using the health insurance they “provide” every time my insurance is inactive, nothing comes up with my name, they get my birthday wrong somehow? or refuse to cover anyone who isnt 3 hours away on the other side of the state. Thats besides them denying my therapist letter, saying my prescription was “too old” and they werent going to cover X because of it. They always had a new excuse to deny me reimbursement for their “trans healthcare coverage”
