How would you ring this in? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Pinkandglitter00
Got into it with this lady today when she asked for a hot version of the brown sugar shaken espresso. The menu board had it at like $6.60 or something (for the normal cold shaken one). When I rang her up, I did a grande latte add brown sugar add oat milk. It came out to like 7.70 with tax. She was pissed because in her brain it should be the same which I guess I understand. But, like I feel the way I rang it up just makes sense. What was I suppose to do, ring her up for the shaken espresso and put hot under ask me? Idk lol.

You did it right. Remember : They're getting more liquid when it's hot because we aren't shaking it to half a bunch of foam in it. If someone ever asks you could say that.

Didn’t even think of it like that! Ur definitely right.

You rang it in properly, the only way to make it cheaper is if they want to do an americano with steamed oatmilk, brown sugar, and cinnamon powder (which is actually closer ingredients wise and is the hot Verizon in canada)

In Canada we have the hot version it’s a brown sugar oat americano. Americano misto with blonde espresso, oat milk, brown sugar syrup and cinnamon powder

This is the only correct answer, ringing it in as a latte makes sense if that is what they wanted but a hot version of a shaken espresso needs to be an americano since a latte won't have any water in it

You rang it up right. And technically it should get an extra shot too so it’d be even more which presses a lot of people

LOL literally after it happened I was like damn I didnt even add the extra shot. She would have been even more mad🤣

The way to explain this to customers is to say that the price is not the same because the drink is not a menu item, it's a menu item with customizations

Same thing happened years ago with the iced mocha macchiato. People wanted it as a Frappuccino, not as an iced drink but only wanted to pay the iced drink price, so $5.59 if memory serves me right.

I'd normally ring up a white mocha creme Frappuccino, add 2 shots affogatto, coconut milk, and mocha and caramel drizzle. When it hit $7.50, they were far from impressed.

I told them it wasn't on our menu and so you can't just switch between the types of drinks at will. Plus there's additional labor for blended drinks, etc.

If they're nice about it or wanted to try it (and I like them), I'd probably hit ask me. But otherwise you're paying for all the add ons.
