Help Unionizing (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Megaman3220
My store wants to unionize and we're tired of our overbearing, corporate hound DM and we're done with everything like so many people. We just don't know where to start. We're in Socal and need some advice on how to get started on the process. Any help would be appreciated!

Contact Starbucks Workers United (Google it)

Never trust your manager or let them find out you support the union.

The first step is to figure out who's side your manager is on, so to speak. The process will be a lot easier if they're on board. If they are, typically your manager can file a request to join the union on behalf of the store, I can't remember where to right at the moment but it's pretty easy to find.

I doubt they are. But I know for a fact I can get the 30% signatures needed to start a vote. I just don't know what else is needed.

If you’re filing with SBWU, you should aim for 70% on cards. They don’t want the risk of under or barely at 50%. I’d recommend DMing the SBWU twitter account to get started!
