Sorry I’m dumb is there a way to get the blonde roast iced?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by yonah94
I love Starbucks blonde roast would I be able to order it as an iced coffee?
StormTheParade111 points1y ago
There totally is, but it's kind of risky for a couple reasons. 1, nobody ever trains new baristas on how to do an iced pourover, and 2, it takes forever so the baristas will be grumpy and/or might forget about it. If you do get one, it might not be good.
It typically takes about 3-5 minutes for a pourover to finish, and because of that it's usually just set up and forgotten about. Plus, not to be a pedant but it's not often that baristas are trained on/follow proper pourover method anyways.
Honestly, you would be far far better off buying a bag of your favourite blonde roast, getting it ground in store, and then making the iced coffee at home if possible. That, or just get an iced blonde americano
SportsChick7963 points1y ago
No one trans new baristas on how to do a pourover period. I had to google what it was when I was doing the computer modules and I still haven't been trained to do one and I've been around for 3 months.
StormTheParade21 points1y ago
My store trained new hires on pourovers! It totally depends on the training structure in stores and how the barista trainer does things.
I believe it's 2/3/4/5 scoops for S/T/G/V, iiiif I remember correctly? But if you want to be really picky, there's a specific way you're supposed to pour the water over the grounds, but it's the scoops that really matter. Gotta make sure it's the proper ground to water ratio lol
cookiemonstah8710 points1y ago
Yep, same number of scoops as syrup pumps!
SportsChick796 points1y ago
My trainer wasn't exactly great. My "training" was absolutely minimal and thankfully I pick up on things quickly and can self teach. I'd be a total disaster if that wasn't the case.
HankaCadew5 points1y ago
Short is 3
Meduka__3 points1y ago
I thought it was 3/3/4/5, that's what the resource on the side of my brewer says. That could be outdated though, never thought to check store resources on that and I've been training baristas like that for a while lol
StormTheParade3 points1y ago
I haven't worked for the company in 3 years, I'm just recalling what little tidbits are still floating around in my skull lmao it's very possible that I am wrong
Aliciarox111890 points1y ago
We are required to train (or at least I am)
celestialnight9945 points1y ago
I am sorry you were not trained on that! I have trained many people and I always make it a point to have them do a pour over/French press/coffee tasting each day that I train them. That way they are prepared, familiar with the coffee roasts, plus it’s nice to sit down and go over the day. Pour overs and coffee tastings are one of my favorite parts of training. I guess it depends on your trainer.
Affectionate_Fart2 points1y ago
I almost trained my new barista on this today!!! But their trainer stepped in and didn’t let me finish (I’m a shift) and I really wanted that to be a teaching moment because NO ONE gets pourovers or French presses anymore.
saltandseasmoke18 points1y ago
Current sbux standard for pour overs is just straight up bad anyway - it's no longer standard to do stuff you'd be trained to do in any other cafe, like wetting the paper filter first or pouring in a spiral, pausing to let it bloom, then pouring again. I love making pour overs and do them for myself often, but I don't think I'd ever order one from us.
Jaded_Fun_713311 points1y ago
That’s how I was taught at my Starbucks!
StormTheParade5 points1y ago
Yeah! This was how I was taught for barista championships, but I've never seen it really taught to someone else. It's always explained away as "that takes too much time" lol
cookiemonstah879 points1y ago
Another option could be an iced blonde americano, but I know some people specifically want coffee, not espresso
StormTheParade3 points1y ago
Yep! I suggested that at the end - and OP has clarified that they prefer the taste of the brewed coffee, not the espresso, but in another comment
SatanicPisces1 points1y ago
yes this and if you don’t like that you could try blonde espresso so like a blonde latte or a blonde flat white iced is really good actually but i do oat milk.
catarinavanilla26 points1y ago
I recommend an iced blonde pour-over, but make sure you tip bc if it’s busy they will be annoyed but not if you throw them a buck. Longtime barista and now shift and I swear by pour-overs as the best way to drink coffee, it’s def the least-engineered and best tasting, but the most time consuming
astivana10 points1y ago
??? How would you even make an iced pour over?
saltandseasmoke6 points1y ago
This isn't starbucks standard, so grain of salt, but the way you'd ice our hot coffees is put the ice in the cup first, add a little hot coffee, swirl, add a little more, repeat. Make sure the ice has cooled the liquid before you add any more. I ice our blonde roast (for myself to drink on breaks) when our blonde espresso bar is busy and I don't want to have to bother whoever's pulling shots.
For pour overs, you'd make the pour over first, then ice it after.
ArborealGayzer4 points1y ago
There is a standard for it— you can find it somewhere on the hub. But you prep your filter and grounds the same as if you were doing a hot pour over, and then use the hot water measurements for iced, which are on the other side of the little carafe. Instead of dispensing into a hot cup, you’ll dispense into a cold cup filled to the brim with ice. Pour all the water in one go and wait a few minutes. And that’s all there is to it.
yonah94 [OP]4 points1y ago
Absolutely I always do bc a lot of the times they don’t have it and say they can make it it’s just gonna be a wait!
Affectionate_Fart-68 points1y ago
Baristas should do what they’re paid for and shouldn’t be annoyed because they’re not “tipped” for doing their job.
uwumoment27 points1y ago
you’re in the wrong subreddit asshole no one wants you here
[deleted]19 points1y ago
We do not get paid a good wage so yes, I will be annoyed if I’m doing a job that takes up 5+ minutes and the customer doesn’t tip. We rely on our tips too, do you say the same thing to servers who get paid $2.25 and live off tips?
P_2_P10 points1y ago
You should tip if it’s something you can do for yourself but choose not to. You should tip your bartenders, servers and baristas.
gemi-high3 points1y ago
people are allowed to be annoyed buddy
somewheredaydreaming-37 points1y ago
Agreed. Gate keepers who are too busy being annoyed instead of just looking at the bright side. You're paid to do it. Annoyed, find a different job. What a concept 😮
[deleted]7 points1y ago

somewheredaydreaming-2 points1y ago
Nope. Definitely didn't. Gate keeper mentality af. You can fuck off lmao. You're so miserable at your job you complain about making a pour over? Sad af. Quit and get a new job. 💦
reclusivegiraffe20 points1y ago
you could do an iced blonde pour over if you want to wait forever. we have a regular who does it herself, actually. she mobile orders a blonde roast, and when she comes in she asks for a cup of ice and then she pours it over the ice. you could also just get an iced blonde americano... i’d honestly recommend that. less waiting and will probably taste better
Jaded_Fun_713317 points1y ago
You could get a iced blonde americano not exactly the same but it’s esspresso shots with water and ice
kubrickonwallstreet9 points1y ago
You can make an iced pourover! I get blonde espresso roast and grind it for a pourover with a paper filter and make it myself at home. Just fill your cup with ice and use less water!
darkwolf5237 points1y ago
My store have a clover machine. Which have a setting for iced coffee no matter what it is, blonde or one of the other coffees. So I would imagine it being the same as pour overs
Commercial_Amoeba_246 points1y ago
No just a iced blonde americano
Babs92203 points1y ago
There's a way to do iced pour overs
paintthatface3 points1y ago
I mean the best way truly is to buy a bag of veranda and making it at home. There isn’t really another way by standard unless they have the clover machine
aee783 points1y ago
Yes, you can asked for an ice pour over. It can 5-10 minutes as we have to grind the coffee, and then manually pour the water. You could also get a blond americano.
I usually get blonde shots over ice with extra ice.
sh3nan1gans_2 points1y ago
My store won’t do iced pour overs. Instead they tell them we can do a blonde americano :/ unfortunately I am one of those baristas who don’t know how to do the ice pour over haha
Necessary_Low9392 points1y ago
U can ask for a blonde pour over with extra scoops of grind blonde because when u pour it over ice, it will dilute the coffee.
springbreak325631 points1y ago
Iced blonde Americano is the best option
welcome2mybog1 points1y ago
i wish sbux had coffee ice cubes. when i made iced coffee a lot we always kept some in our freezer and it made it so much better and easier! obvi we’d have to make them and have freezer space for it but it would be really nice to have for iced coffees or cold brews. i hate how diluted they get when the ice melts bc our cold drinks are nearly half ice
hgrxx1 points1y ago
you could order it hot and then buy a hyper chiller (you can find them on amazon) to cool it down yourself. more work on your end but you wouldn’t have to worry about pouring it over ice and watering it down.
Canadiansbux1 points1y ago
Couldn't you just get an blonde iced Americano?
iWonderWahl1 points1y ago
Not reliably or with any consistency from cup to cup. Unless you want an iced americano.
ericanicole12341 points1y ago
Personal opinion but blonde roast iced is so bad it’s so acidic (reserve store had a clover machine so we played around with it alot). Definitely recommend iced blonde americano vs blonde iced coffee

You can get a blonde americano, it wouldn’t taste exactly the same though
francescugh1 points1y ago
iced blonde americano!
happybowlita831 points1y ago
You can probably just buy the blonde roast and ask for a cup or ice, I'd let the coffee chill for a bit though so it doesn't melt the ice and dilute the flavor. If you have a coffee maker at home you can just buy the veranda beans ground and increase the coffee to water ratio so you can pour directly over ice or make a large batch of blonde cold brew that should be good for 7 days.
rlogranite0 points1y ago
Yes
Mysterious_Funny_925-3 points1y ago
Iced espresso
yonah94 [OP]4 points1y ago
I thought the grande blonde roast was the drip coffee and the coffee grounds and not the espresso beans?
catarinavanilla-6 points1y ago
They make blonde espresso
yonah94 [OP]1 points1y ago
Ik I’m saying I want the coffee not espresso
ProfessionalRock7940-2 points1y ago
You sound like a customer. Please don't order a blonde roast iced, our iced coffee does not come in blonde and I honestly don't see a store accomodating this, and rightfully so. Grocery stores sell bottle blonde roast Starbucks coffee in their refrigerated sections.
