where do i even begin. my manager decided to quit on friday, no two weeks or anything. we got a temporary manager that two people at my store transferred away from. sunday was CRAZY. we are a super busy location next to a very popular mall. the lines were out the door from open to close. ran out of almost everything and partner had to get supplies from another store mid-shift. i was the only one that works at my store and the rest were borrowed. even i barely know anything because i just transferred there. temporary manager didn’t show up to the shift like i think she was supposed to. customers were also just being so weird:
example 1- i handed a lady her americano. she asked if i could switch the lid because there was a little coffee on it.. no problem. handed her the drink back. she asked if i can then switch the cup…. okay. i pour it into a new cup. she then asks for another new lid. she then complains that her cup and lid touched the counter…… yes? they usually do.
example 2- lady ordered three mdls. complained that her drinks aren’t “red” enough. they looked completely normal. i added some more fruit to it.. alright i guess. she comes back ten minutes later with half of her drink gone and asks if i made it with water. i let her know that it is, in fact, lemonade. she demands that i fill the rest up with lemonade.
example 3- an old man argued with the person at reg for at least 10m about how many tea bags go in a tall. he was insisting on two but didn’t want to pay extra.
not to mention, the shift lead took warming while she gave the newbie reg. she had no idea what to do and kept ringing up drinks wrong and stopping us every few minutes for help. i get it, been there! no judgment…. it’s just that the shift didn’t make herself available for questions even though she did nothing besides warming the entire time. she could’ve at least swapped or offered help!
i was on bar for almost 5 hours with no 30 because they had me clock out 15m early to avoid giving it to me. they said that i’d get paid more so it’s fine. i was feeling very lightheaded because of the running around and lack of water by hour 4 and the person on reg got really annoyed and kept rolling her eyes at me for sitting down for two minutes. i understand that she is also working and it’s not like i’m dismissing her, but being on reg is a lot less tiring than bar, especially when we had cups lined up across both sides of bar to the point where we couldn’t even work on it. we had to start stacking cups. she was also working for less than i was at that point. there was no reason for her to get that bitchy for me feeling like i was going to faint. i have issues with fainting and it’s obviously better if i take a minute to calm down rather than continue and then faint on the floor.
just not a good day. i’m not looking for much from this, just sharing my experience. please don’t be mean!
edit: example 4- i ran out of oatmilk so asked if he would like another milk or different drink. he said coconut milk will do. i did that. he then comes up to me and says “this tastes like coconut milk”. uhm.
example 5- i got a sticker that said grande caramel macchiato, no vanilla, no caramel, upside down. i wanted to say something so bad.
