I’m so fucking tired of getting weird looks because of my speech impediment. I, a 15 Y/O have a stutter. I’ve had it since I can remember. I work window frequently, especially during mid-day hours.
My Stutter, is severe. I struggle to complete sentences often. I’m lucky to get past one car without Stuttering.
What makes it worse? These mfs won’t stop giving me these stupid looks, as if I am wearing a Rainbow Feather hat and a clown nose or something.
It’s always the Younger customers too. (Highschoolers.)
I’m tired of it man. There is nothing I can do to fix it either. I’m too incapable of asking someone in the higher ranks if I can be not on window/dto either. And I can’t, it’s my job. Lol.
Anyways, how has y’alls day been? 🫠

Thats not cool. Some people just werent raised right and taught not to freakin stare at people for something they cant help. Ur doing great! Those people that give u weird looks because of ur speech impediment would not last a day in ur shoes doing what u do whether they had a speech impediment or not. Atleast ur not using it as an excuse to hold u nack in life. Ur workin hard as shit so these people need to realize that and stop giving u weird looks and making u feel uncomfortable. It annoys me wen i see physically or otherwise handicap customers coming in to my store and getting weird stares from other customers. Why cant people just go about their days realizing that everyone is a human being just like them with feelings

me on twitter today: After a rough morning of manning the DT at a Starbucks, I just want to remind everyone that kindness, patience and compassion are free. Spread that stuff around.
Sounds like people in your area need to be reminded about that as well, because kindness and empathy are MIA lately. Hang in there and remember that their judgment of you means absolutely nothing to your life. Keep being awesome and working hard.

You can’t refuse a specific position without an accommodation, which they don’t give out without a doctor’s note. You can however ask to be rotated more so you’re not always stuck in the same position. I had to do this last year for a different issue, and this was the phrasing that worked.
