anyone else seeing an unusual amount of un/under-roasted beans in the big bags of pike we use for brewing? (i.redd.it)

This is only a tiny morsel of the ones i found. There's maybe one per a hundred regular beans. My manager wants to save them and use them for a cute little display 😂

But it's honestly a little strange. I get the under roasted ones, but some of them are just straight up green! My tinfoil hat theory is that it's purposeful, because under roasted and unroasted beans are more caffeinated and Starbucks LOVES to prey on people using addiction tactics with sugar and caffeine.

Lol i have never seen that at my store from our bags of beans. That does look weird tho

I found a few lately! But it's never been more then one or two.

Lol i would save them and take them home to have more caffeinated beans for myself if it does mean that the under roasted ones are more caffeine lol

Most of those aren't even under roasted. They are green and haven't touched heat.

Yeah, that's why I put un/under. Some of them are just straight up unroasted.

i’m going to be on the lookout for these now!! that’s so cool

Yeah! It's neat, for sure. But it's also a little concerning. It's happened with four bags of pike so far. I wonder how many other stores have had that. Maybe we just got a bad batch?

No way that’s intentional green beans are super bad for the grinder. Just roasting issues

I am a former partner, I own a coffee roasting business now

this is from the "tryer" to check and smell the roast progression. this is left from the early stage of roasting about 3-4 min.. these beans are left upside in the tryer then turned downside to go into the cooling tray with the other roasted beans..its a simple mistake but happens often..
