personal cup handling? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by localvillagewitch
does anyone know of any resources about the current personal cup handling procedures? my store has been following the contactless procedure, using a vessel to take their cups and only if they’re clean, but i have a borrowed partner today who said her store doesn’t do that and they just take the cups like before the pandemic. i was under the impression that the contactless procedure was still in place but i actually can’t find anything updated in the partner hub beyond what they released this time last year about it. i’m just trying to figure out if we’re following it unnecessarily or if her store just isn’t doing it?? not a huge deal but i do want to make sure we’re not violating a major health code or anything lol.

My store is back to having them take the lid and we take the cup, which personally speaking I love, the whole transport it in a vessel thing was always awkward to me

haha i feel that, it’s not the best. i don’t mind requiring that the cup is clean cause people have handed me some truly vile cups before but it seems like there either isn’t a specific rule or they haven’t told us explicitly what we should be doing

We've been doing the contactless way as there's been no update since it came out. At least none that that our store is aware of and we're pretty decent with getting the weekly updates printed and read.

okay good, i’m glad we aren’t the only ones doing it haha. i swear i saw something about it in an update but now i can’t find it so it’s just a guessing game

We’re still supposed to be doing contactless. They confirmed it on the workplace live a few weeks ago.

i don’t know if i have access to workplace as a shift, my manager said it’s just for asm and above. but that’s good to know!

My store haven't been taking cups. We never got a contact less option, so we tell the customers that we have tonput them in the disposable cups and they can put it in their own cup themselves.

I have no idea but let me know if you find out. We don't even take the cups, we have people set them on the hand-off counter and pour the drinks in.

Yeah we did that for a while and then we got an update about doing contactless, I think it was in a weekly update sometime last fall?? we just use the old for here mugs and have them set it inside. but at this point it sounds like there’s no clear guidance on this and so every store is just doing their best 😂

It’s in an update from a while back. You can take the cups without a lid as long as they are clean. We started doing it in October.
