First day today!! What should I expect/wear? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by peepeepoopaccount
Starting today in like 3 hours. Just a training shift 2:30-6:30. I’m bringing in my documents for payroll but idk what else to expect for the first day. Also what should I wear? I was thinking a black tee with leggings under a flannel? Do you need to only wear dark colors?

Leggings are against dress code. Wear a black shirt and jeans

Dress code is on the website, if you look up “Starbucks dress code” it should come up. For your first few shifts I’d definitely keep to it as much as you can but your store may be a little more lenient after you’ve been there for a while. Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah I just looked it up and found out I can’t wear leggings OR flannels so I had to get some jeans at target since I basically live in leggings 😅

You can wear flannels as long as it’s in the blue, grey, white, black color scheme

Don’t stress. They’ll probably have you on register for the first week or so (as well as food and brewed coffee/tea). You just gotta learn to work the register and listen to your trainer(s). On your down time when there’s no customers, go through the recipe cards so you can start learning what some of the drinks are like.

Most drinks are extremely similar to a basic latte but with added syrups/slightly varied ways of making them. As for now though don’t even worry about drinks that much as like I said you’ll mostly be on register. Just saying it for future reference cuz you might be overwhelmed by the amount of drinks you see on register.

Last and I’d say most importantly: don’t be afraid to ask questions. I’m training three people right now and really appreciate when they ask me questions because I can’t always know what they’re struggling with unless I see them mess up or they ask me. It’s totally ok to mess up a lot when starting, but if you ask beforehand you can avoid a lot of mistakes. Good luck!
