Any Employment Advice? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by randomusernamestaken
Hi! I moved into the area about five months ago and have really been wanting to work at Starbucks. I have previous barista experience and so far I’ve gotten three interviews. I’ve applied to probably over 30 locations including in nearby cities. In every interview, they always tell me I have good answers and I suppose it could just be like a polite response but it always seemed genuine to me maybe I don’t know. But they always seemed to go well? But every time 😭and including for locations I haven’t interviewed for, I’ve gotten emails telling me that I haven’t been selected. Do any of you got any tips/advice/input? Thanks :)))

As someone who did hiring in a previous life, is your availability open or limited? If limited it might not be what they're looking for. Do you have gaps in your work history? Or lots of short term jobs? That might indicate you're not reliable. Are you showing up looking like you're taking the interview seriously, or messy and casual? Are you making eye contact throughout the interview, answering questions as asked with confidence and showing enthusiasm? Are you answering questions from a customer experience mind set? These are a few of the things that would impact my decision to hire someone or not.

I know how deflating it is to continually be rejected while job searching, best of luck to you.

I think I naturally have a bit of erratic and awkward energy cuz I have anxiety and am a little shy but I still can do well in social settings and am a hard worker etc so all of that seems like a lot to try and keep track of when I’m tryna interview😭 thanks for the tips and encouragement:))

Just letting you know, Starbucks won’t feel like a normal barista experience. It’s McDonald’s but with coffee. I was bummed to find this out when I went in with barista experience.

You might not have found the right store yet. 🤷 My manager is careful with her hires. She thinks about the impact of the person with our team - NOT just the person being interviewed.

Best of luck! ❤️

Yea it feels like they’re very selective and ig if I rly want it, I should focus on getting across how I can benefit the team but I feel like I’ve sort of tried to do that as I emphasize how I take initiative and stuff but oh well
Thanks! ❤️
