If you’re not training an opener don’t worry about it. like im a trainer and i don’t even know the closing tasks, but i only train partners for the morning and mid.
My SM didn’t give me a performance check, she just observed over time I was ready, and she started me on the training on my learning.
i personally reflected to how i was trained and what i wish i was taught. there’s also modules on the resource app you can use.
just make sure you’re pretty proficient in most positions and you do everything by standard. make sure you’re understanding and patient with new partners as well.
the first person i trained had prior barista experience so she learned fast. the 2nd person didn’t. what i learned was the easiest to teach them is to pick a position each day and focus on teaching them it and at the end regroup for questions and have them do some Mylearning. it’s important to have them have hands on work while u supervise them as well, but don’t put any pressure on them. also ask their learning style. i’ve found ppl the work better watching me bar before they understand how to sequence, there’s also people they remembered way better reading the recipes before attempting.
just remember to be patient and always ask if they have questions. i always like to tell ppl tht it takes around 3 months to grasp everything so they don’t feel behind.
but makes sure you teach them to task! they’ll probably be put on window and CS a lot at first.
so go over whips, caramel drizzle, sweet cream, cold brew, brewing coffee/ teas, how to make refresher base. make sure they date everything! i personally had them write down the recipes/dates for these
