The past week I’ve been having issues with people at the hand off telling me their drink was “supposed to be a venti” after I finish and it’s just 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ so frustrating. The first few times I’d apologize and let them keep the other drink but now I just be taking it back and dumping it. Such a waste of time and product 😭. I can’t tell if it’s bc whoever took their order didn’t hear right or if they just didn’t clarify 😭 but it’s getting so old. Also today has someone who mobile ordered a shaken espresso tall in a grande cup and I accidentally put it in a tall cup (my fault obvs) but they insisted that the drink was a grande not a tall bc I offered to pour it into a grande so they didn’t have to wait longer but she was like “no it’s a grande” I was like…okay sorry about that and made it but like..why. People don’t know how to order and it’s killing me 🥺.

There’s an old YouTube video of a girl saying “this is how you get a venti for the price of a grande” and then at the hand off she tells the barista it was supposed to be a venti. With stickers I just show them where it says the size and say “you only paid for a grande”. If they insist on getting a venti I do NOT let them keep the grande. If at all possible I use the grande and just add to it to make it a venti. Like if it’s a latte just pour it in the venti cup and add more milk.
Edit: IF it’s something we did wrong…say it was supposed to be hot and we made it iced, that’s when I give them both drinks. That was OUR mistake and giving them both drinks is a good way to apologize.

Yes it’s been happening at my store a lot lately & I knew it had to be on purpose. So I’ve started saying “okay let me get that refund started and we’ll do the venti” and then they say never mind. Like sometimes people genuinely mess up but other times you can tell when they just want a free drink.

Once at my store, there was a period of time where teenagers were always coming in and ordering pink drinks or refreshers at the registers and it was right next to bar and i would always hear them say grande so i started making it since it was slow and i could put the sticker on the cup after it prints or watever. And so i would then hand it to them at hand off, and they would be like "i ordered a venti"...like no u didnt. I specifically heard grande. But they stopped doing that after a while. It was so annoying tho. But yea idk if people are trying some shit but the person that got the tall shaken espresso in a grande cup and u accidentally put it in a tall cup but offered to put it in s grande cup for her, she probly just stated that she ordered a grande to begin with cuz she wanted extra stuff but if they want extra shots, they gotta pay for it. If they want extra milk, they can just say it at the register. Idk why they insist on making life harder for the person actually making the drinks. Did she specify she wanted extra ice or extra milk wen she asked for the tall shaken espresso in a grande cup?

No I’m assuming they wanted a grande but put it in wrong bc there wasn’t anything extra so if it was in a grande it wouldn’t have filled the cup anyway

Oh ok yea she probly realized that and instead of asking if she could pay for an extra shot and extra milk or something to make ur guys' lives easier, she decided to get annoyed. People dont like to admit when they dont kno how to order things or when they make a mistake ordering cuz then they get irrationally angry when it comes to light that they ordered incorrectly. When u at first gave her the tall in the grande, there was room in the cup right?
