Trying to get free drinks, two teenage girls come in. Only one of them gets a drink, a Venti SAR, they come up to the front (me) and simply ask for a remake. That’s all. I ask what’s wrong with it, they kind of stand there and stumble and say “it’s supposed to have peach juice, I’ll pay for it if I have to” I charge her for the .80 cents and pour the drink out in the sink behind me. I turn around to throw the cup out and they’re just giving me a dirty look, I say you’re drink will be ready down at the end. They walk down, when the Drink is done they say to the person on bar “this was supposed to have lemonade” I had warned the partner who was on bar down at the end, as she looks at them say “well you only paid for the strawberry refresher, I know this is a remake so why didn’t you say anything?” The girl responds will “you dumb bitch, I’ll fuck you up” why? You spent 10 minutes fighting with barista, waited god knows how long at the end waiting for the drink to be made three separate times. Just order two drinks, we’re not giving you the extra damn.
TL:DR…. Two girls ordered one drink, claimed it was wrong twice after the original drink was made and said that parts of her drink were missing. Wanted to get the extra one for free. Bitched out my co worker and threatened to fight her.

That's so awful oml 😭😭. This is exactly why teenagers that come in scare me the most, there's no reason for them to be so damn rude. So sorry that happened

Ss here. The right thing to do would actually be refusing them service since they're in violation of our Third Place policy by using curse words and being disrespectful :) at this point, you don't even need to refund or service them, simply provide them with your district manager's number and file an incident report

Im sorry that these durr-du-durr's came in and acted like that towards u guys. Thats so annoying. Like they didnt originally pay for strawberry refresher with lemonade. They originally paid for just a strawberry refresher. Then wen they came to u at the register, they stumble on why they want a remake and they dont say the lemonade part...only the peach juice part. Then they see that they got charged for the peach juice so they tried to come up with another way which is by saying its supposed to have lemonade. Why didnt they say that when they said the peach juice shit? Cuz they think theyre being slick. Lol u could have also been like ok can i have that cup back? Ill pour lemonade in it and reshake it" and then they probly would have been like 😮

Thats annoying. Why do people try that shit? We used to get teenagers trying that shit and then they all suddenly stopped wen they realized we aint fallin for it. I would have been like "ok ill add some lemonade in there" and if she insists on a remake, ill say "well i can dump the other one for u since its not how u wanted it" and then if they try to keep saying they wana keep it, then its blatantly obvious that its for her friend since her friend didnt buy a drink. Why are people like this? I always have that going thru my mind wen it comes to some of our customers

If they ask if they should give it back or throw it out I say, “oh you can keep! Since you’re nice ;)” but if you’re an ass, no chance. Also if it’s clear that they’re trying to get a free drink, nope.

Agreed lol im the same exact way. In a situation like urs where its blatantly obvious wats going on and theyre rude or brats, no chance on keeping the extra drink. But nice people can lol. This lady came in today and ordered 2 drinks. One of em was a hot coffee and then after her order was done, she said "oh wait i forgot , i meant to order this as an iced coffee" and she waited at the register while it was made cuz she had her wallet out n was ready to pay and we were like no ur fine, give it to someone u kno and it made her day!

That’s why we almost always take back the originals and dump them when people ask for remakes. Almost no one tries this at our store anymore.

I’ve started calling teenagers out for their shenanigans. We’re right by the local high school and middle school in a wealthy neighborhood and the children that come into our location are some of the most entitled people ever. I’ve started collecting stickers off the drinks that they leave behind in the cafe and calling them out by name when they come back. It works wonders!

I understand been upset by them being disrespectful no one should have to put up to that and Starbucks is notorious for letting rude customer's slide. But this is a billion dollars company why is it such a big deal to just let people get away with a bit. If it's just a bit more of a drink or a drink they claim was messed up. The drink and plastic cup was wasted because of what ? Unless you're a manger it doesn't affect you and it barely affectsthe billion dollar company that can't even pay its baristas a livable wage.

It's because they'll keep coming back and doing the same thing. I've had customers try to pull the same stunt on a daily basis thinking if they didn't interact with the same person each time that they were getting away with it. Then they'd get pissed and might get aggressive when called out on it since usually it's the people who do try to scam that behave that way immediately.
If it's an honest mistake then we fix it no problem but you're not guaranteed both versions. If it's someone trying to scam then we miss out on the labour that would have been earned by the drink being rung in and ordered, plus they're going to have to interrupt flow and just jump in line ahead of other people who actually ordered and are waiting on their paid for drinks in order to tell the barista to remake it for a freebie.

Letting people get away with things makes them entitled. If someone is nice and it seems like a genuine mistake ill let it slide but clearly letting someone scam isn't cool. These people think they can get away with anything and treat baristas like crap because starbucks thinks "the customer is always right) and can get whatever they want.
Letting people get away with it is hurting other baristas because again it makes people entitled and once they're told no they flip out like the girl in the story and cuss at us and throw tantrums. Why would you contribute to that?
