When are we supposed to read the weekly update? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Intelligent-Ad1273
I mostly work close and it is busy from the time I clock in until the time I leave so when do I read the weekly update? It’s not posted anywhere I’ve seen so I’d have to pull it up on the computer which takes forever

I do it first shift of the week, before approaching my playcaller. What’re they gonna do, complain that I’m staying up to date with company communications?

It’s now on the iPad in the Resource app. I’m a shift and I’ll ask partners I’m working with if they have read it. If they haven’t I’ll have them read it before they take their break.

I wish it was like that at my store. We just don’t have time unless I clock in 5 minutes early but even then it’s like they expect me on the floor

We have been through this as well. When I would say this to my managers or even DM, their reply was “well make the time”, so I do. If that means something else doesn’t get done it doesn’t get done. And I’ll use that as communication on why something wasn’t done. If your shift isn’t giving you an opportunity to read it, ask for the five mins to do so. It’s an expectation that every partner reads it. There is also a place to sign off that you have on the Daily Records Book. If they don’t give you the time then let your SM know. If you feel the only way to get the opportunity to read is to clock in early or off late then you are able to speak to why.

it's supposed to be printed out at the beginning of every week by someone. i don't necessarily have "designated time" to read it, usually i just read it as i'm clocking in or have down time.

I’ll try to do it while I’m clocking in. Usually as soon as the shift sees me approach the iPad they’re like “oh thank god go solo bar” and that’s what I do until I clock out 🥲

You don't really have to read it at a certain time each week, just when you have a chance. I usually just find some time to read it during my first shift of the week. It's the store manager's job to print it out and post it where everyone can see it, but if they're not doing that, you can also find it on the iPad in the Store Resources app.

I need absolute quiet to read, therefore I have never read a weekly update and no one has noticed lol
