I’ve honestly just come to accept that the very specific drinks I make for myself while at work will never taste right if I order them from a different store. I’ve found this to be true even with normal menu items. I make myself a mean pink drink but they always taste watered down and have a weird ratio when I order them any other time ):

Okay so, I work at a licensed store and have perfected my order so that whenever I go to a corporate store I know exactly what to ask for and it’ll taste the same. When I make this exact thing while I’m at work (I make it exactly to standard) it tastes great, but literally every single time I go to a corporate store it tastes watered down and just not good. i’ve been trying to figure out why this is and the only thing I can think of is that the people that make my order confuse the number of pumps and divide them in half because the shaken espresso gets half pumps??? I don’t know what else it could be. this drink definitely doesn’t taste like it has 8 pumps of syrup in it. Please help I’m so annoyed.

(The one I work at is pretty far from my house so I usually go to closer ones)

edit: could y’all at least explain why you’re downvoting me lmao

Corporate store standards would have this drink made with two half pumps of hazelnut and 6 half pumps of dk caramel. since our dark caramel pump is already a half pump on it though, I wonder if they are only putting three dark caramel on accident perhaps? Sorry

I always thought it would get full pumps of hazelnut as hazelnut is not a standard syrup in the drink so it should get the normal hazelnut pump size when including pumps

it should
borrowedurmumsvcard 3 points 1y ago
yeah that’s what i’m thinking they might do. but standard when adding syrup is just the regular amount of pumps. like if someone asks for 4 pumps of caramel in a cold brew, you’d put 4 full pumps not half

I have to disagree. Corporate store should make this drink with 2 (full) pumps of hazelnut, as requested. In my experience, most stores don't keep a Hazelnut bottle setup with 1/2 pump. And if the license store's dark caramel's pump is set up correctly it should dispense the same amount of syrup in 6 pumps as the corporate's stores.

When making any drink that calls for half pumps but is modified, the modifications supercede the standard.

oh yeah for sure. i’m just thinking they might be taught wrong or assume wrong. that’s the only reason I can think of why it would taste so off

I mean the only other factors are ice and cream. 1) more ice than you add when you make it 2) different brand of cream and more or less added depending on amount of ice added. 🤷

i just learned this now!! people at my store have been telling me half pumps no matter what for months! smh, and my store KNOWS it has an issue with inconsistent training… SM needs to step it up

hmmmm Interesting

The absolutely only thing I can think of is the light ice part. I do think they completely forgot the dk though. Also, I have seen the difference in shaking even at my store, so idk if they’re putting everything in and just putting a crap load of milk? Because that doesn’t even look slightly aerated.

literally. it definitely doesn’t have 4 shots in it either

Right?! Like I know a breve drink looks pretty light, but… this looks extremely light.
