covid negative but with symptoms. should I call out?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cosmicsyren
The last few days I've had bad congestion and a chesty cough. I called out Friday, worrying it might be covid, but a test yesterday confirmed I'm negative. Now I'm wondering if I should call out today as well? I don't think I'd clear covid coach but I know for sure I'm negative.
Edit: thanks for your input. I called out :)

The covid check in would probably tell you that you can’t work, I’d just call in and play it safe🤷♀️

Yes call out! Even if it isn’t covid but just a cold or flu you don’t want to get your partners sick. This is the silver lining of how Starbucks handled the pandemic, no more guilting (or shaming) partners into working while sick.

Yeah, COVID coach will send you home with two or more symptoms

I called out Friday for this. My household tested negative, but we were all sick, and the one of us that brought in the sickness was 100% exposed to covid last weekend.
I felt bad, and I didn't want to risk getting any coworker or customer sick. Sucks missing the hours - like it sucks 😭 but covid needs to be taken seriously.

You probably have protected sick hours. You can ask your SM or just check your paystub to see how much you have.

I will next shift, but I've only been working at Starbucks for about three months, so I may not have that yet.

COVID coach has been discontinued. There is a new symptom check your SSVs should be walking you through.

My husband and I tested negative for the first two days and then we were positive. I thought I had a cold and boy was I wrong! It really set in after the the first few days.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. Can I ask what your symptoms were?

I had a sore throat and a lot of sinus problems to begin with which made me think it was a cold. Then I got headaches and brain fog really bad. I was also very fatigued and had body aches with a mild cough. My husband had mild sinus with much worse lung issues. His lungs were filling up with fluid a lot especially at night when he laid down to sleep. Our fevers were mild. It took about a month for the headaches to clear up but my sinuses are still a mess as we went right into our heavy pollen season right as I was recovering from covid. We caught covid in February.

Possibly a false negative on the test. Good luck and hope you feel better soon no matter what it is.

call out. I tested in the morning, negative, four - six hours later my symptoms got worse and re tested again. Positive, sometimes it takes time for it show. I was exposed by my mom and it took two days for me to show signs which I literally fought my SM to give me time off because I was paranoid that I had it. I wasn't wrong
