I feel the same way, got promoted in June last year and it’s only gotten harder. I try to have my baristas’ backs before customers. If we’re understaffed, or things aren’t working, I remind them that they are doing one persons job and one person only! If we have to slow down, we slow down. Customers can come to me if they have a problem, and if they can’t accept the rationale that we are understaffed and working our hardest and choose to curse at me, they can take their refund and leave the store and try again on another day with a level head. If Starbucks is losing money due to their own scheduling/maintenance/hiring/training practices, that is 100% on them. It does not come out of my paycheck or yours — take things at your pace and be open and honest with your team about what that is and what they were hired to do. It’s kept me going.

Control what you can and be the best you can be for your partners. They’ll probably be more understanding of your situation than you think and won’t hold anything against you
