A 2 month delay?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by impasse602
So we were just informed that our pay increase will be delayed for two months and will not take affect until August followed by a profit sharing program which I don’t really understand what that could entail and student loan help.
What are ya’lls thoughts??
Gimmecoffee2020 62 points 1y ago
There’s never been a concrete date, so there’s not really a delay either. It’s always just been Summer 2022.
StormTheParade 31 points 1y ago
Yep, he promised it in October 2021 I think, stating that employees should be at or above $15 by Summer 2022. Everyone just assumed summer = June and honestly I'm not surprised they're pushing it until literally the end of Summer lmao
cringeqween13 13 points 1y ago
The technical first day of summer is June 21st. First day of fall is September 22nd. I'm surprised they're putting the raise into affect in August and not on September 21st.
sheep_heavenly 12 points 1y ago
Generally I'd assume it would be alongside summer launch then. Not PSL season.
knowitallbarista 3 points 1y ago
it's so sad that august is PSL season
nicathor 45 points 1y ago
Bahahahahaha!!!! I'm SO shocked! Why every store isn't filing for unionization I cannot fathom; this company does not care about you in the slightest!
ecw2002 3 points 1y ago
they never announced a date they just said summer
nicathor 10 points 1y ago
They say a lot of things, very rarely do they turn out to be true
ecw2002 -1 points 1y ago
okay this isn’t one of them as of now
lemon_ass 21 points 1y ago
I’m not surprised but I’m also just really upset. I’ll definitely have to find another job. Two months is a long time for someone who doesn’t make a liveable wage. I wouldn’t be surprised if this produces more unions and shortages
Hoax_Pudding_Cup 6 points 1y ago
Mood. I was really looking forward to putting in my two weeks at my second job. Guess I'll just have to tough it out for yet another 3 months.
sunflowercupcakee 5 points 1y ago
I held on for so long, so long. Right now I work at Starbucks only on weekends for benefits, but making $7 more an hour right now changed everything for me. I work 10 more hours a week now but I am not tired and stressed out like at Starbucks. I do account payable and a lot of mental work but I don’t feel like I need a nap every day now
Jasreha 9 points 1y ago
I was under the impression it was July 1, so I’m a bit miffed about that, but they did say “summer”. August is still summer, I guess.

I’m more annoyed that the exact increase was announced and it’s not what we were told. My SM was told “at least $15 but competitive to market rate”. Im right by Chicago, so we were excited, because Chicagoland stores make significantly less than Chicago proper (by about $3-5 an hour); everyone was under the impression our raise would bring us closer to Chicago rates. I work in Indiana and live in Chicago; I need a comparable wage.

That means we’ll be at $15. That’s a $0.48 raise for me. Not exactly enough to change my current financial situation. 😪 I guess I get to keep pushing for Shift.
andersonm499 1 points 1y ago
Isn’t it $15 or 3% (which ever is more) if hired on or before may something (I don’t remember exact date)
$15 or 5% if 2-5 year partner
And 7% 5+ years
Jasreha 1 points 1y ago
It is! Originally it was super vague and referenced “market rate”, though, which made my SM assume we’d be going up significantly more. For us, $15 is more than the 3%.
CoffeeChesirecat 4 points 1y ago
There seems to be confusion about specifics. I do remember hearing June..
board-certified 2 points 1y ago
hearing? or reading?
CoffeeChesirecat 1 points 1y ago
Honestly, I can't remember if I heard or read it.
impasse602 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Yeah me too! My SM told us June but now it’s officially august
board-certified 2 points 1y ago
Unless your store manager gave you written proof from Starbucks corporate that they were just giving you incorrect info
imnohelp- 3 points 1y ago

0x52and1x52 2 points 1y ago
interested in the profit sharing program
Logical-Doubt-6021 2 points 1y ago
source?
PercyGabriel1129 3 points 1y ago
The source was the meeting that was yesterday for earnings. They released a document on Partner hub that says the raise will be Aug 1st and will be $15 or 3%, whichever is more. You can see all of the "new" benefits (they are mostly the same, except slightly better, and black apron is back) that'll be coming our way on that document

My SM
board-certified 7 points 1y ago
bad source
impasse602 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Nah! And besides he just got off of a call and immediately told us
board-certified 2 points 1y ago
did he tell you that it’s coming aug 1st or that it’s delayed by two months because there was never a date released prior to the announcement yesterday
TarantulaTeeth13 0 points 1y ago
My store, and others, already got ours months ago...
Animuthrowawayplz 4 points 1y ago
This is a different raise that puts starting pay of baristas at $15/hr across the board and shifts starting at $18/hr I believe. I'm not 100% on the shift one.
mylegalusername 8 points 1y ago
Min. barista $15 and SSV’s at $19.05(27% gap between barista and SSV), higher for tenure/local cost of living upwards $23/$29 iirc.
