someone tried to ask me to break a 100 for her 8 dollar order. i said no and she ended up pulling a credit card out anyway 🤦‍♀️

Lol thats what most end up doing anyway but they always wana see if they can try to use us as a bank first and break the big bill by paying for a tiny order with it and then the card magically comes out when we say we can't. The only reason they're trying to pay with a big bill is because they want to use us as a bank and break it into smaller bills 😑

yeah i think it’s standard we cant take 50 or 100 dollar bills (when the total is less than a certain amount) bc we don’t have 20s in the tills. but yes people get so mad. i’ve had people order like $10 worth of stuff try to pay with $100 through the drive through, they ended up driving off. like who just carries a $100 bill? as their only form of payment? idk, it’s weird to me. that and the people who constantly have to reload a debit card/unlock it. it messes up drive times and we get yelled for it, but the custies think they can take their sweet time (and not prepare before pulling into a drive thru)

it’s weird to me that so many people still use cash in general. and ugh yep some lady today asked for my manager because “we always take her 50’s” when we literally never have. my shift had me end up taking it and her change was a bunch of 5’s and 1’s. then she tipped us $1. how nice.

Standard is we do take $50s and $100s. It’s annoying so most stores try not to.

yeah i can imagine,,, having to get the ssv to unlock the 20s drop box everytime. it would become a lot more common too since some people probably learn after the first time we say we can’t take it

Lol I work at a cafe/mobile only store and omg people wait in line and then when its their turn, they order and payment time comes and theyre like "hold on im tryna open the app or "hold on im tryna reload while there are more people behind them lol 🤦‍♀️

There are bigger problems in the world and i love when people use that line for wen it comes to Starbucks lol cuz we had a customer today that came in during rush time and they had ordered a coffee with some stuff in it at the register and usually the person at the register just grabs it but sometimes they forget to grab it and they forgot to let the person on bar know that they didn't grab it or can't grab it that second and so this guy was waiting there for quite a while like at least 15 or 20 minutes but he was extremely patient and when the crowd got way smaller and most of the people left, he ended up asking us calmly but he got a hot coffee and was wondering where it was and we told him that were extremely sorry and that it got lost in the rush with the communication and he said "it's okay there are bigger problems in the world" and left with a smile. Genuine nice person 🙂 i actually smiled when he left

At my store our DM is big on NOT refusing to accept big bills. So smile and say “just so so know all I have to give you back are $1’s, $5’s and rolls of quarters”. They miraculously find a smaller bill or debit card. My fave response is “you’re a million dollar corporation, don’t tell me you don’t have change?!” I reply with “you think they let me keep that in my till?!”

Ours doesn’t unless the total makes since (like if the total is $42 or $85) because then we know we have change. But we’re connected to a gas station and they will always break big bills so I just send them over there 🤷🏼‍♂️

my store does if it reasonable (like the order is 45$ or 95$), we still check for authenticity but if someone tried to pay their 12$ drink with a 50 or a 100. I flat out refuse and say our till doesn't have enough to break it.
