ever since i started working my thumbs have been hurting from taking the lids off the shakers because i can’t pop the lids off with just my hands 😵 im wondering if anyone else struggles with this and if the pain eventually goes away

not my thumbs but i think my wrist is permanently damaged from flipping/pushing the milk pitchers to rinse them, lifting full refreshers/kegs, and deck scrub <333

Yeah, my thumbs have permanent wrinkles and calluses from working at bar when I first started. However, I got a tip from more experienced baristas I work with that changed how I open them. Instead of just opening the lids with your hand directly on top, hold both of your hands around the actual shaker and push both thumbs upwards on the edge of the lid. So the only thing that is touching the lid is the tip of both thumbs.

that’s what ive been doing and is what has been causing me pain 💔 i have small hands so the person training me suggested me to just peel the lids off with my thumbs and they’ve been killing me

Yeah all my fingers hurt. They get so dry and cracked it’s so annoying.
