Is it possible for a manager to blacklist me from being hired again? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by liamotter
So basically I worked at my local Starbucks back in high school for about 4 months, and left because my manager wouldn't stick to the terms we agreed on when I was hired. I could only work 15-18 hours a week and she told me I had to work 20-25 and "be a team player" despite my conflicts with school and personal life. 3 years later, I've been applying to several Starbucks stores who all have been advertising how much they need new baristas, and despite submitting 3 applications at different stores in the span of 3 months, I've heard absolutely nothing. I've been working as a barista at my college campus cafe, so I have plenty of relevant experience, but I'm stumped as to why these positions are all still active and I haven't even been offered an interview, especially when I got a call for an interview 24 hours after I applied when I used to be a partner, and I was wondering if my old manager could have made some note or something that would be making these locations hesitant to hire me.

Your manager can mark you as rehireable or not whenever you leave. If you left on bad terms its possible they marked you as not rehireable.

When I left I submitted a 3 week notice and worked the remainder of my 3 weeks, so I assumed I would be eligible to be rehired.

I don’t know if they can attach any kind of information but I would think they can.

Either way, I would go into the store and ask for the store manager. A lot of times that extra step will cause the manager to go back and search for your application and then call you for an interview.
