Let me just say… Working for Starbucks inside the Walt Disney World parks is extremely unpleasant. No free food/drinks policy, no discount on food/drinks, insane hours, no sticker machine, outdated and barely functioning POS system, entitled customers (cough sorry, i mean guests) , awful base pay (lower than corporate), time off is NEVER approved, no say in scheduling, HUGE hierarchy gaps between lower management and employees, and our machines are always broken. Missing my corporate job haha.
Lots of these problems are company wide and not specific to WDW Starbucks locations. Working here has ruined my love for Disney and I don’t want to support this company and it’s awful overworking/underpaying of cast members. I wish Starbucks would acknowledge us as *partners* and advocate for us by threatening to pull partnership. I know that’s not realistic because haha capitalism. But, anyways, I hope I don’t get fired for this post haha. Mickey Mouse is always watching.

i genuinely can’t imagine how hard it is to work for a franchised store, let alone at disney. i work NEAR a theme park and every time i enter the theme park and see the store’s baristas i’m always taken aback by how understaffed they are for their volume. customers are brutal for any cafe/drive, but i feel for theme parks ESPECIALLY at disney. y’all do deserve to be recognized as partners, AND deserve to be equipped as partners just as those of at corporate stores

Definitely try to unionize.. Your conditions are atrocious, absolutely worse than what we are experiencing and we feel ours are pretty bad.
Stay strong. We're with you in spirit.

technically they work for disney so there’s no way in hell they’d be able to unionize. I work at a tarbucks and it’s the same. target would never unionize in 1000 years

There is a union in Disney for food and bev. Local 737 if I remember right. Idk if the Starbucks cast are able to get in it though.

I would say it's definitely something they should look into. 🤞

oh that’s cool!

With it being a licensed location I don't think they can

I’d love to see your sales by half hour report…. What kind of numbers do you pull in during peak (which I assume goes from 7am-6pm). I’m sorry you’re currently trapped in hell.

I always stop by Starbucks in the parks because it is the only place I can get lactose free coffee and I have never not waited at least 10 minutes to order. They are always packed.
I am also a former CM (CP turned seasonal) and Disney pay blows. I made minimum wage as a CP 11 years ago, I am guessing it isn't much better now.

No free drinks/food policy? Huh? That on top of Disney world ~~entitled customers~~ guests sounds awful. I hope you can negotiate some better terms soon, or better yet, a better location.

Time to unionize

I worked at the one in animal kingdom for two years and definitely preferred it over corporate Starbucks

Why not work at a real Starbucks and go to Disney on ur time off? Sounds better even though Starbucks is not all that great but u do get free drinks and food. Weekly Coffee markout, free Spotify, Lyra (not sure if u needa work 20 hrs or more), Lyft 20$ off if u Lyft to sb and back home from sb. Vacation hrs, discounts on store and elsewhere (affiliates) . With 20 hrs or more u get health benefits, stocks, free educ. I think that’s about it.

I moved here just to work for this company (it had always been a dream of mine to work for disney). I can’t leave for another 6 months. When my lease expires I will be going back home to my corporate job :)
Necessary_Low9392 points1y ago
Oh I see. That’s cool. I think u would have a better time if u work on the rides or food booth and not in a Starbucks lol

i agree yea haha

I was recently in Orlando at universal studios & islands of adventure and I feel that it's the same if not worse than WDW Starbucks, there were 3 people on shift at both of the ones I went to, one being in Studios and the other in Islands. Their espresso machine was severely outdated and their warming ovens took entirely too long on some items which slowed them down even more. It was terrible and I felt so bad for them.
