I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to charge for water. The stores that do aren't actually charging for the water, they're charging for the cup. There are two reasons this happens. 1. Bathrooms are for customers only and some require a key. 50 cent cup of water = customer, so people have a cheap option if they just need to pee. This is common in urban stores with a lot of local foot traffic. 2. Depending on the area, they charge for every cup no matter what is in it. 10-25 cent upcharge instead of a discount for a personal cup

Damn thank god I don’t live in the Bay Area everything there seems like they gonna charge you just to breath, I’m glad the Central Valley hasn’t gotten to this point

They aren't going to give you the 10 cents you saved them. How does it affect you to give away cups of water, other than the 10 seconds to fill the cup?

Lol and sometimes ill tell them im backed up on orders but that ill grab it in just a moment. And theyll wait but i dont tell them to order at the register next time because I'm afraid that they're going to take it the wrong way and freak out on me but if I would say that to them I wouldn't mean it in a harsh way I would just mean it in a way like if you order water at the register then it'll be ready with your order when your other drinks come out so that you don't have to wait

Lol why do they refuse going to register to put it thru? Or the people that order in store, why dont they say it at the register? Like mobile orders, i understand kind of but even then they should atleast ask the least busiest person in the store or go to register

It's technically not allowed to add things at window but also like they want us to have good customer scores and they're not exactly gonna be in the mood to leave a positive review when we send them back through the line to order the rest of their items.

Especially if it's a hot coffee it's just easier to grab it. If it's more than that I'll pull them up and tell them we'll have someone run it out to them so they don't kill our drive times. But we are supposed to sent them through.

The only time I don't mind is if they're hard of hearing or like have a reason why they can't order at the box which obviously situations like that do occur and I get that so that doesn't bother me, but when people can't compose their order before getting to the speaker and decide to only text their coworker/friends/family when in the line between the speaker box and the window it annoys me. Especially when it's food or multiple items or multiple cars do it. It always complicates things.

This water gate keeping thing really is nestle like. Stanning for a \*mega corp\* is so not the vibe we need in 2022. Give away all the free product. Fill the drink up to the top with refresher. Why are so many people trying to protect SBs literal dimes and pennies? Is it really that bad? When i was a barista i gave zero f's if someone wanted a drink no ice, sure i'll fill it to the top with heavy cream if that's what you want. It's not costing \*me\* money.

I don’t know I hate drinking anything but bottled water so I rarely ask. Last summer they tried doing these water only cups that were somewhere between a grande and venti and people would definitely ask for a bigger size. I don’t know the solution but it seems like a very small thing to be concerned about.
