Showed up for my shift even though my store was closed (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ughmonse
I was scheduled to open today. I show up and no key holder was there. Apparently we weren’t gonna open today bc there was an exposure (yay!) and no one told me. Apparently our asm let everyone know in the store group message that I am not a part of.

Context: I transferred to this store recently, and I’ve had some doubts abt management, thinking of transferring yet again lmfao

i love lurking on this sub so i don’t know— but doesn’t SB open at like 4?! you’d have to be there at 3 something in the morning right?? that’s so ridiculous that they wouldn’t tell you

Every store is different about what time they open. Mine opens at 4:30am but one up the road from my house doesn't open until 6am.

I agree about not knowing. A text would have been more than appreciated.

Yes, store opens at 4:30am and we have to be there to open at 4am.

I’d see about getting paid for any time you spent waiting. That would be the deal if an opener was late; I imagine it’s be the same in this case since no one contacted you.

Since the whole store was closed and the schedule never reflected any changes, I would assume everyone is getting paid if they were scheduled? I’ll update when I get an answer to this but we’ve ended up closed the whole weekend.

I haven’t been with Starbucks for a bit and I don’t know the current policy, and even then I’d be uncertain tbh. If they don’t you can definitely fight for the time you had to wait.

Management within sbux is shit. Don’t transfer. Find a better job and a much better paying job. Starbucks isnt the greatest thing out there, there are tons of better jobs with better benefits (trust me), better pay, better accommodations, better management, better policies, and much better human decency.

Check state law. You may be entitled to get paid for all or part of your shift.

Just let your sm know you want to request a transfer and they will give you a sheet to fill out the info

Will you tell me how you transferred? Or the process ?

Tell your SM where you want to go. They’ll take care of the rest granted your new location needs new people.
