actually - she did send a group text with a picture of the schedule asking if it works for tomorrow. most people responded yes but i was still sleeping and didn’t respond at all. but this STILL isn’t allowed right? text isn’t a valid form of communication and she didn’t even wait for me to reply

It depends on where you are.
In Ontario an employer can't make changes to an employee's shift within 72 hours of the shift without the employee's permission.
You'd need to look at the local labour laws.

I believe in Cali the rule is 24 hours. Like others said, check your local labor laws.

Typically as long as it’s more than 12hours before your shift. It’s fare game to change it.
But it’s shitty to do so.

With the Starbucks partner hours app they are making it easier for crap like this to happen. It even has notifications when the schedule has been changed. It used to be “once a schedule is posted no changes without the partners consent”.
