Just to make sure i’m not insane:
I was opening the other day and putting the beans in the hoppers and my shift lead stopped me and said “the shiny ones are decaf, the matte ones are espresso. Since the decaf is a dark roast that’s what makes them kinda oily and darker. Plus there are more shiny beans in the cubes because they dont use very much so there’s more” I was like “oh! Umm ok?” And put the shiny beans in the decaf hopper and the matte beans in the espresso hopper. She sounded so convincing but i’m pretty sure she’s wrong! Pls either correct me or tear her to shreds lol

EDIT I completely forgot this part but it’s so important and equally weird: later I was refilling/topping off the hoppers and then he bag labeled espresso has SHINY beans so I showed her! And she said “oh yeah they turn matte the longer they’re exposed to air! You’re so cute and sweet tho so concerned!!” WHAT!!!!
Plus this shift lead is notorious for being by the book, and very exacting. She is always correcting us like “day dots can’t be customer facing!” Or “don’t hold the cleaning spray so high” etc. usually her points make sense! Which is weird for her to say this thing about the beans, she is a tenured partner too!
HOWEVER one time she told me she used to be a bartender at the restaurant I work at now, but I asked around and everybody says they never worked with her, and she wasn’t even in the computer system that contains the names of everyone who’s ever been hired at my restaurant lol. So she’s a pathological liar I guess??? Idk she scares me
