I don’t know specifically about sbux but almost nobody is getting fired for excessive calling off. Retention is really tough for companies, my partner runs a school+daycare and she would have to close down if she fired everyone who called off after running out of PTO. People call off all the time and she’s forced to ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Your SM might have just assumed you needed the time off for your injury and planned to try and get your shift covered. These all sound like reasonable reasons to need time off, and if a manager is mad-- they would be making it a lot more obvious. If you feel like you're being retaliated against for calling out, you can always call HR and get it figured out!!

Seriously, we have a partner who we just can't fire. She would only work one day a week, call off half that time, leaving only two people to run the store when the openers leave. But we can't fire her. She literally hasn't been scheduled in maybe a year now, but she is still technically an employee of Starbucks. We just can't actually fire her lol. You'll be fine :)

A partner can get fired for excessive tarries or call outs. If you really think you are going to get fired ask someone if your name has been removed or crossed out in the next two weeks schedule. In the future you will want a doctors note for things like a hurt back (this will also help if the doctor thinks you shouldn’t be carrying anything heavy) or anything involving a medical reason to call out for three days or longer.

Anything longer then 3 days out in a row and you need to call Sedgwick and do a temporary LOA.
