I got coached for trying to reduce pollution. (self.starbucksbaristas)

I was bagging up an Uber order for a singular hot drink and instead of using a green stopper thingy, I used a sticker dot because it’s going to do the exact same thing. My SSV said we need to use the stoppers on hot cups. Like, I know, I just choose not to. And if we ever run out of stoppers we revert to using stickers anyway. It seems like such a stupid thing to coach someone for.

I agree unless you’re on some kind of limited supply for those or they’re hard to order. It’s kinda silly. the only reason I would make is maybe the steam from the hot drink would make the adhesive less sticky. Thus risks spilling hot beverage but yeah kinda silly.

Okay I see your point however I don’t see how it would be enough to A) taste the difference and B) cause any type of toxicity. Obviously we should follow standards but I do know there are some work arounds that are better for a reason

It’s fantastic that you care and are passionate about it. At the end of the day, follow policy. Bring up your ideas before implementing them.

Can you imagine complaints about - I couldn’t get the sticker off I burned my hand trying….. I don’t know, they’re all crazy.
