How terrible was your Mother’s Day? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ohyanoforsure
Probably the worst day I’ve ever worked at my store.

Slammed with people putting in mobile, drive they and cafe orders, short staffed, stupid TikTok drinks, and shitty spoiled kids with their shitty spoiled mothers.

But to top it off…

Kid: *walks up to the counter where have drinks for customers, takes a sip out of a drink, and then spits it out all over the other drinks waiting there* THIS IS DISGUSTING!!!! Its SUPPOSED TO BE STRAWBERRY!!!!

Me: *Absolutely shocked* …what’s your drink and name??

Kid: AARON AND A STRAWBERRY FRAPPUCCINO

Me: *Looks at the sticker on the cup* that’s an Americano Misto for Mike…

His mom: *Laughing* Sorry about that!! Kids will be kids!!!

We had to remake five drinks that he spit all over and sanitize our whole counter. This kid also looked like he was LIKE 14 ?!?! Like DON’T YOU KNOW BETTER AT THAT AGE?!?!?!

I cried my entire way home lol

No one walked out, so that has to count for something, right?

We were at $5,400 by 3:00 on a 4 play all day with 5 call offs and then the drive thru computer crashed. I tried restarting 3 times and I couldn't get ahold of our SM or ASM. Wait times were around 20 minutes by that point.

I ended up calling out DM to see if we could shut down drive so I could get my baristas on breaks. She hemmed and hawed about it for a minute before I mentioned I had baristas getting ready to walk off the floor.

I hate Mother's Day.

i felt bad, i love mother’s day and i love my mom but who takes their mom to starbucks for mother’s day? that’s like the shittiest gift ever. yay shitty overpriced coffee? let’s celebrate by tormenting baristas and watching over their every move? deadass had a lady correct me twice for a drink, but i wasn’t even making her drink. seriously i felt bad because when i’m rushed on days like these i don’t make drinks that uphold the “standard” bs we are supposed to follow. i make drinks fast bc im forced to get the line out. i feel bad for anyone who drank any of my drinks today.

also that poor mother whose children thought it would be a good gift idea to give them a box of birthday cake pops. id disown them

Lol i literally almost have no words for the chaos that was Mother's Day at my store. But I'll start with...

This one guy came in with his son and he showed me his phone and asked if I have his order and I said I'm not sure because we are really backed up on mobile orders and delivery orders and in-store orders and I told him to scroll down and check which store he ordered two and apparently he ordered to another store which is literally a 4 minute drive down the road. And the policy at my store is that if it's one drink that simple then we can make it for them but if it's multiple things in the order like this guy had then we got to charge them for it at our store and they can get a refund from the other place whenever convenient for them. But this guy ends up saying "u cant just make it for me? I have to pay for it?".........ummm yes you have to pay for it because you got multiple things on your order and if you pay for it then it falls in the queue because I'm not going to just jump you in front of the line when every single order that I'm dealing with right now is more than five drinks

Was handling both bars almost my whole shift by myself. Our manager turned on mobiles without even telling us. We were on a 4 play almost all day.. 1 on customer support, 1 on front and food, 1 on drive, 1 on both bars…. It was so busy. Keep in mind, our store is a high volume store and we usually have 7 people during peak. It was bad… one of the worst days I’ve worked at Starbucks in the passed year. I was sweating bullets

We were down an espresso machine☹️

I assumed that my grocery-store Starbucks would be dead because no one goes shopping on *Mother's Day*, right? Haha wrong. Crazy busy most of the afternoon and barely got tipped, compared to my dead-boring three days last week where I still got $10+ in tips.

To celebrate mother's day, I decided to...

Not buy her coffee from Starbucks. I went to a local coffee shop that has good beans & better espresso machines. I got her a sugar-free mocha and her boyfriend a cappuccino. The baristas took their time, and drew a very realistic cat on the sleeve of the cup and wrote "cat-purr-chino".

We had one person go home sick, one call out, were constantly in a rush, ran out of milk, the two people i closed with one had never closed before and the other didn’t know basic things like how to make backups after being here for a year so after I finished counting money I had to catch them up.

One of our espresso machines stopped working at some point but quickly came back so that was good. At least mobiles were off
