Fun fact: the part of the quote that people always conveniently leave out is "in matters of taste". which originally meant that even if the customer wanted something ugly/gross/bizarre/etc., they weren't necessarily wrong. It didn't apply to disrespect or arguing about prices or any of the other bullshit we have to deal with.

So basically, even when a customer orders some abomination of a drink, at the end of the day that's what they like and they're paying for it. The quote essentially means we shouldn't tell them that we think the drink is gross and that they should order something else. That's it. Of course, if we don't have something and the customer is being a dick about it, that's a different story entirely.

this was a long time ago now so i dont remember the exact wording but basically i was on register, and this one lady asked for the "strawberry drink with water". so naturally im like "ok so the strawberry acai with water" and shes like "what? that doesnt even exist. i want the pink drink." i pointed out to her the sign RIGHT ABOVE MY HEAD that had a picture of the PINK DRINK and said "this?" and i went on to explain the pink drink and she cuts me off and shes like "no!!!! with water!!!! is it hard for you to understand!!!????" im just like yknow what... fine. have a pink drink lol. rang her up for a pink drink, she pays, walks away, and i wait. then comes the yelling and berating at the person at bar for not giving her the "pink drink" she wanted. the bar person eventually made her the strawberry acai and was trying to explain to this woman the difference meanwhile the lady is literally s c r e a m i n g about how thats wrong and that doesnt exist and we're all stupid and bad at our jobs and clearly cant read. lol

Me when people get shaken espressos with extra ice then wonder why there's not a lot of milk in it. Or the vice versa where they wanted a drizzle of milk.
