Should I quit? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by deliciousnutty
Hello everyone.

Last year I came to the US and I learned english. The SM hired me after the interview.
A week ago I started my job as a barista. While I was training I had 3 different trainers. Everyone acting so rude to me, I heard them call me ashole. I am very bad at DTO, and they always putting me there. While I was stuck at that point, they has to help me. I am a new immigrant so that, I am a bit hardly understand them.
Our SM went on vacation. And also I need to earn money. Normally I don't care about anyone, I do my best. I am not blaming anyone definitely, but being an unwanted person is really hard. I am literally thinking about quitting.

would you consider transferring to another store?

I can able to consider. Am I have to contact that store right?

yes, you’ll first let your manager know you want to transfer, and then contact the store manager of the other store. if you have time, i would go to other stores in your area and order a drink or something to see what the environment is like there. obviously you won’t be able to tell 100% how things are until you work there, but maybe some of the other stores will have a more diverse population or more welcoming baristas.

>Unfortunately, my store manager is on vacation. He'll be back in the first week of June. Maybe I can talk with the assistant store manager, but she is so angry and rude. While we wait for SM to come back, can I ask to work at the bar instead of the DTO? Or according to what the shift supervisor sees fit?

ah, well you can still go through the process of looking for another store and even talking to another store manager about a possible transfer to their store and just go to your manager when he gets back. i think it’s fine to ask to move positions, and most shifts would allow you to switch to another position if you’re struggling. i’m a shift myself and i wouldn’t mind someone asking to be moved.
