store environment advice? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dystopidrip
so i recently became a ssv a little over a month ago after being at my store for 8 months ish, and it used to be the most positive work environment i’ve ever had. for a while it was the type of place where every single partner would welcome whichever partner was coming in and we all had such a good time on shift and were all super tight knit. right before i became a shift we had a lot of partners leave that were really well-liked by everyone and imo were big reasons why the environment was so positive and since then it’s been really down in the dumps. nobody has problems with anyone or anything but i think everyone’s just super burnt out because we’ve been pretty poorly staffed despite being at our max number of partners. i was just wondering what any other shifts or baristas have done to improve the climate at your store? or how you’ve kept spirits up during times of change even in past jobs? our store used to be a huge safe space for myself and a lot of others and a lot of us would spend our free time here on off days because we were all such good friends and i really miss that. i know it’s different with new people but i really would like to work towards at least getting the vibes rolling again yknow

We had a Mario Kart night. Twice.

Sometimes we play boardgames in the cafe.

Someone will start singing on floor and people just join in, doesn't matter if they're good or not. Disney, out of season Christmas songs, Taylor Swift, literally anything recognisable.

Our DM walked in the other day when everyone was shouting Sheeeeesh

hey! so i’ve gone through a verrry similar situation right before i became a shift. our horrible SM was fired and we were without one for a very long time and basically what we did was connect with each other more by doing things in our community or just with each other! like we used more of the green apron appreciation card thingys and we encouraged each other more! look into your community as wel to see if you guys as partners can do anything to help out! :))
