going about asking other stores in the district for shifts during labor cuts (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by certifiedsnax
long story short i’m only working short shifts 5 days a week and can’t really afford to pay rent. i was thinking of just asking my SM for longer hours but i doubt he’s gonna be super willing to do that given everyone’s hours have been cut. So my next option would be to try to ask around the other stores in the district if they need shifts covered/additional help/etc. i work in a college town so i’m hoping i could sometimes be lucky with picking up shifts but I’m not sure how to get into contact with other SM’s. Should I go to my own manager first and ask him to give my contact information? How would I know if he actually would give my contact info to other stores? Should i just message him and ask if that’s something I could do? Sorry for all the questions lol I’ve never really been in this type of situation before

any advice is appreciated! thank you! :)

Ask your SM to borrow you to any stores within driving distance. If you have the partner app downloaded you can see open shifts in any store your borrowed in. Any shift that is put up for offer in the other stores you can see and claim.

Go to each store in your district that you're willing to work at. Introduce yourself to the store manager there and let them know to contact you if they need coverage. In the back of the same store, leave a note with your name, number, and let them know you're available for coverage.

i know my district has a facebook group where we can offer shifts. if you don’t want to try that you can go to a store you know is in your district and ask for the SM, and tell them you’re willing to pick up shifts at their store. ask around at your own store—someone is bound to have helped out at another store and can get you in contact with the SM. of course…if all else fails you can always ask your SM.
