I think admitting when youre wrong and being open to the baristas opinions (since theyve been there longer) will help foster good relationships because you wont seem like the new stuck up supervisor who thinks they’re superior. Also just finding time to talk with ur coworkers and finding things in common definitely has helped me connect with baristas.

Bouncing off this, dont be afraid to ask questions. A lot of the knowledge can be found if you ask and it lets them know that youre not just assuming. I tell my baristas, "id rather you ask me again and again then you assuming the wrong thing and making that wrong thing a habit"

Listen to them. Since you mentioned that they know more than u if they try to help you and you listen and respect them they will do the same. When you are running the shifts make sure to see how they are doing in the positions. some co workers get tired in positions and are too afraid to ask to be swaped so noticing that or how certain ppl work in certain areas is really good to once you start to learn that then (for my store) we realized that they knew what they were doing in terms of running a shift

I was promoted to ssv a few weeks ago from barista and the number one thing that I made sure to do was connect with each of my baristas during my first shift with them to see what they liked/preferred to do etc. I am an opener and a closer so I wanted to get a feel for how to run my plays with a variety of people. They know they won’t always get to do what they want etc but they also know I take it into consideration and most really appreciate that

These responses are amazing!!! Just be real with ur team. Treat them the way you want ur boss to treat you
