I start this Thursday and I was wondering if I could wear vans to work? I googled it and there were a lot of people saying yes and some saying no. Can I or can I not wear them?
knowitallbarista 12 points 1y ago
not it they're canvas (purpose being you don't burn your foot off when hot coffee is inevitable dumped on you). suede, rubber, leather, ect is solid.
RefreshingRedditor [OP] 5 points 1y ago
Yea Ik I can’t wear anything canvas 😭it’s hard to tell from the picture if the shoe is canvas or suede and it doesn’t tell you in the details either

My store manager bought water proof shoe spray and we are allowed to wear whatever shoes we want as long as they are closed toe and non slip, she is very lenient though lol.
adventurelyfe 6 points 1y ago
You can. But get the non slip ones so you don’t eat shit.
RefreshingRedditor [OP] 0 points 1y ago
Thought most of them were non slip because of the rubber soles and bottoms with grip-
adventurelyfe 8 points 1y ago
Nope. They make specific ones that are non slip called for the makers. It’s what I wear. I promise, regular vans and you’ll end up on your ass at some point.
SSDGM-cool-cat 2 points 1y ago
Walmart has cheap nonslip shoes for the meantime
Mea-fae_Owl73 1 points 1y ago
They do but they don’t last that long if you work more than 20 hrs a week. Those are my go to “in betweeners”. 😂😂😂

Have any other shoe recommendations? I’m currently trying to find shoe that I can get in store, if I order them online they won’t be here by Thursday
LilacFlores 2 points 1y ago
You get a discount at sketchers for being a partner
diphenhydranautical 1 points 1y ago
i also work at vans, the non slip line is called made for the makers, other vans won’t cut it

I’m gonna go with the crocs bistro
chipqueen2532 5 points 1y ago
the crocs for kitchen workers are ugly asf but they work so great. highly recommend if you can get over how they look
RefreshingRedditor [OP] 2 points 1y ago
What do you think about Croc Bistro?
chipqueen2532 1 points 1y ago
yeah that’s what those are. didn’t wanna say bistro crocs and have to explain what they are lol. I’ve had a pair for three years working 50+ hours between Starbucks (until Dec 21) and chipotle at the same time and am only now having to replace them.
RefreshingRedditor [OP] 1 points 1y ago
I was just looking at them and yea I’m perfectly fine with how they look, I don’t plan on staring at my feet the whole shift 😭I’ll definitely get some tomorrow
chipqueen2532 1 points 1y ago
some people come to work at the bux like it’s a whole fashion show so no judgement if you think they’re too ugly for whatever aesthetic you’re going for bc they kinda are ugly lol but they definitely work great imo

I wear vans, they're nonslip and leather! They also have the ultracush sole inside. Love them!!
bisexualgirlboss 3 points 1y ago
Technically you shouldn’t. Those are canvas shoes and don’t protect your feet if you were to spill coffee on your shoes. If you don’t have proper shoes, they’ll either send you home to make sure you have the proper footwear or they will let you wear them that one day. Leather, faux leather, anything that will protect your feet is what’s suggested!
Mea-fae_Owl73 2 points 1y ago
Exactly. I have witnessed a partner burn their foot when a pitcher of steamed milk fell on their shoe.
bisexualgirlboss 2 points 1y ago
Shit I believe it.
Sad_Artist8253 3 points 1y ago
Don’t wear converse trust me you will regret it
RefreshingRedditor [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Oh I won’t 😭 I’ve only worn them once in general.
Sad_Artist8253 1 points 1y ago
Yeah every time me and my partners wear converse to work we are always slipping every where
RefreshingRedditor [OP] 1 points 1y ago
😭sounds like a safety hazard
Sad_Artist8253 1 points 1y ago
Yeah our floors are always wet after the morning staff so know i just wear vans and there really comfortable for long hours
BatWeary 1 points 1y ago
i wear vans! i have a nonslip pair from the made for makers line. i adore them, they’re so comfy and i’ve never had anything burn my feet when something hot is spilled on me
SSDGM-cool-cat 1 points 1y ago
