just find out what the cameras can and can’t see and make sure you take stuff there. and go for the expired food, they won’t know if you already take stuff that’s been marked as waste. I wouldn’t take syrups or sauces unless the same happens where they expire or are out of season and being tossed.
lindi077 points1y ago
yeah ill DEFO stop stealing sauces and syrups! the cameras actually don’t even hover the oven where the fridges are OR the rtde case. i usually put the food item in my personal bag so nobody can see what’s in it at the camera at the front door. i never saw an issue with taking food bc NONE of my partners ever use their mark outs … like I have never seen a single partner use them in the past 3 months

So much food goes to waste anyway. It’s not like you’re stealing cash out of the till. I support you! LOL!
RyusuiJL5 points1y ago
I've done very rough calculations on how much this company wastes on the display food alone. It's obscene. They could save millions a year, if not possibly billions, if they just got high-end fake food.
Not only would we not be wasting loads of food every single day, but using fake food would also mean less labor because the stores don't have to set up and break down the pastry cases every day. Also 1-2 loads of dishes less per store, per day.

You’re going to get caught and you’ll be fired. Depending on how much you’ve stolen you can also face legal repercussions. Same with any other partner that is doing this.
Source: I’m a SM and have had my DM fire partners that were caught stealing. Some occasions were caught by me while others were caught by “corporate” and presented to me. Two faced legal repercussions because they were stealing from the registers/deposit.
lindi079 points1y ago
omg why would they steal from the register LOL that’s crazy dude i never stole MONEY. ill defo stop stealing sauces and syrups
romansapprentice-11 points1y ago
They didn't mention anything about the register.
Everything you're taking costs money, there's a money value to it. Just like if someone robs a Target they're probably going to be wheeling a ton of shit out of the store versus stealing a cash register, the fact you aren't physically taking money out of the register doesn't mean you aren't stealing their money. By taking product that's what you're doing.
And to be clear I'm not even arguing against any of your logic in your OP, just saying that you seem to be under the impression that you can't be criminally charged for taking product...you def can if you take enough of it.
trbpanda6 points1y ago
think you missed that last sentence that very clearly says "registers/deposit"
adventurelyfe4 points1y ago
Highly doubtful. I see it constantly. You see a fraction of what goes on as a SM
And I’m not talking about money. That’s easily trackable.
ETA: not saying stealing is ok-Imo it’s not. I’m just saying you don’t see/catch a fraction of it.
stillwantthewhip-5 points1y ago
Trust me they will. You won’t notice right away because they don’t always immediately separate partners, sometimes they’ll let the amount rack up.
adventurelyfe6 points1y ago
Trust me. You’re naive if you believe that.

They’re stealing your surplus labor value. Don’t apologize or feel bad, but do be careful.
Torirock108 points1y ago
no cuz sometimes food breaks when i’m on oven and i’m like oh no (crams into pocket) my shifts always tell me i need to mark out stuff using my 7 food items even when it’s stuff they’re throwing away and it’s annoying
lindi078 points1y ago
no bc that’s what i don’t get. food that will literally be thrown away should definitely be up to grabs to eat yknow !!!
Torirock103 points1y ago
exactly like i just want a cakepop why do i have to use my markout on LITERAL GARBAGGE
ChristPlays100008 points1y ago
I think it's a slippery slope when you allow the actions of others to dictate what you consider to be ethical. I understand your logic, but ultimately, I think you should place a higher value on your own integrity. The more you justify behaviors that are widely recognized to be unethical and possibly illegal, the more you open yourself to being discredited by your opponents.
lindi078 points1y ago
reading other povs of my post has made me much more aware of the consequences and where i stand with my morals. i will be more mindful. thank you :)
ChristPlays100000 points1y ago
Glad to hear it. Best wishes!

I get fired for saying “dick” not even on the floor and smoking “too close” to the building and there’s people doing this shit every day still working there. Starbucks can choke on all that food they throw away.
siestasierra4 points1y ago
a few months ago 2 people were fired from my store for stealing food so i would be careful
