lyft partner benefits (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by user41984
i just learned today that starbucks has partnered with lyft to give partners free rides to work— im about to move to a big city for college and probably won’t be taking my car so i was going to take advantage of the lyfts to work. does anyone have experiences with the lyft benefit? is there a limit to how many lyft rides you can take?

So it’s only for sbux and it’s very limited in reference to availability. It’s before six am and after like 9pm, or so I believe from when I looked at the program.

It’s also dependent on if the store qualifies for any commuter benefits. Most big cities do but it’s something you’d have to look into with your sm

how do people get around during the day 😭

Public transport, I suppose. Like train, bus, ect. It’s almost like a “supplemental”. But I’m 90% sure that it’s very time restrained for partners.

I wish they would make it for more parts of the day. Our city has garbage transport, takes like 2 hours and multiple busses just to get somewhere that's a 10 or 15 minute car ride away.

6pm-6am, because it's designed to make sure people have a safe way to and from work when it's dark and public transportation may not be running.

YMMV. Early in the morning I've often had long waits for Lyft only to have drivers cancel on me - so I wait until I reach the limit for when public transportation will get me to work on time, then I give up on Lyft. I think it would be a lot better for closers.

As others have said, it's basically only eligible before 6am or after 6pm. You get 20 rides per month, for up to $20/ride - you pay the excess and any tips. They don't keep track of your schedule, though - so as long as you're near your store within the eligibility period, you can actually snag a ride even on your days off (late nights socializing in the city.....). Can't leave SBux benefits/perks money on the table when the hourly wage is what it is... Use everything! Spotify, Headspace, Lyra, ASU classes, 401K, stocks, monthly commuter passes, employee discounts on travel and featured retail/insurance items, etc.

discounts on travel?!

It’s a benefit through Perks At Work - I wish I’d thought about it when shopping for a new Macbook and TV, too

It’s super convenient for me living in a bigger city and getting off of work around 12am
