So I work around 35-40 hours at Starbucks and just had to take another job at a restaurant where I’ll be doing about 20hrs. I need some advice from people working 60+ hours a week. How do you do it? And how do you make sure you don’t get too stressed? I have pretty bad anxiety so I’m just worried it’s gonna effect me more than I think. I love working and consider myself a workaholic. I’ve always had 2 jobs or 1 job and side hustles. But this is a lot of on your feet physical work so I’m just worried I’ll get too exhausted! Any advice is appreciated ❤️

find ways you can relax yourself. I love taking super hot baths with bath salts or candles and other things that smell good and just sit and relax and scroll for however long it takes for me to be chill enough to move on with my day. gets me relaxed and ready for bed after a long day. or, especially in between shifts, go sit outside for a bit now that it’s nicer. read a book, eat a meal outside, walk around wherever you live, etc.

i’ve been working 2 jobs for the last 7 months or so, fortunately not that many hours but definitely over 40 sometimes. i don’t know how i do it. i take wednesdays off every week and my partner does too, if i didn’t have my wednesdays i’d have worked myself into the grave by now. i’m still trying to figure out how to juggle work/life/ HOUSEWORK!! i manage to find time for my (few) friends but i’m still working on keeping up with housework. my partner helps out a lot and i’m very grateful. doing it alone would be impossible. i admire your work ethic op!

Is there one day you can request off from both stores? Working splits and doubles was never really that big of a deal for me, but one day where I just didn’t have to reply to work in any way was my mental saving grace. 7 days a week will make me hit a wall and I am awful to deal with.

Yeah the restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday so I think I’m going to request those as my 2 days off at Starbucks 😊 thank you!

i do lots of long shifts/long days (12+hrs) and try to get at least 1 day off, 2 if i can. it helps me reset and rest instead of having a shift everyday without a day off. it really helps to just be able to have a breather, get some groceries and clean up my place a bit while taking some me time.

I lasted 1 week doing this. It was mentally hard and I just value my free time too much.
Edit to add: I’m in my 30s. I did this all through my 20s with no issues

I’m almost 26. But at this point in America I literally have no other option if I want to pay the bills and not live with my parents anymore. 😔

having a nighttime routine is a game changer for me ! different for everyone but for me it’s stuff like taking a shower or bath, skincare, candles, a mindfulness journal entry n cheesy stuff, it really helps me decompress and spend time really taking care of myself, and makes me feel like i’ve washed off all the stress of the day. same with a morning routine. i still get up an hour and a half before my 4:30 am shifts so i can be sure to have my coffee and get ready while not rushing so i can ease into the day and start it off calm :-)

I actually am just starting this 2 job thing myself and i thought a lot about this before starting. Im a full time restaurant manager and wanted to do something for additional income and something to bring me joy. So i just started part time with sbux! I have the same 2 days off from my jobs, i work mornings at sbux the nights i close at my other job and then i don’t work at sbux the days i open at my other job. I spoke with both places to make sure i was fully transparent in my reasons as to why so my schedule was consistent. In addition to scheduling, i do things that make me happy on my off days. Take myself on dates, go out to eat, get a massage, binge my favorite shows, catch up on sleep etc. PRO TIP: don’t do house chores on days off if you can avoid it. Schedule it into a work day.
