tips for interview/job ? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by exactly17stairs
Hi everyone! I have an interview at Starbucks tomorrow for barista. I was wondering if you all had any tips? This will be my second job but I’m still quite nervous, even though I’m pretty sure this store is desperate haha. Is this an alright job? My current job I deal with rather obnoxious little kids and I don’t get paid very much, so I’m just looking for a slightly easier job with more pay. I’ve seen a lot of bad stuff about being a barista and I was just wondering if it really is all that bad. Thank you!

Expect a lot of situational questions (how would you deal with a difficult customer, if you saw another partner struggling with orders, how would you react, etc). Overall the interview isn’t that difficult! 90% of my interview consisted of various situational questions, asking about previous work experience, and why I wanted to work at starbucks.

Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do great

Adding on to this, the job itself (making drinks, heating food, cleaning, getting to know regular customers) is actually fun.

The amount of pressure from corporate and grumpy customers can be hard to deal with, but it's customer service so that'll happen anywhere.

If you get the job, have fun! Just be sure to set your availability and stick with it. If you pick up too many shifts or swap with people it can be hard to reset your work-life balance. :)

Hi! I actually went from a childcare job to Starbucks barista - honestly love it! It can be stressful at times/there’s a lot to learn in the first few weeks but once you get the hang of it I find I really like it. For the interview you’ll get asked about customer service scenarios/dealing with customers. I didn’t have prior retail experience so I talked about interacting with parents & times I took ownership of my childcare job. & be prepared to clean. Like, a lot. Lol. Anyways, good luck!
