Partners coming to work w Covid (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sh3nan1gans_
Okay so we had a break out at my store but apparently with new rules partners are still required to work but wearing a mask. This makes me uncomfy and just seems like a bad idea. I’m fully vaccinated ofc. But I’m not sure why they thought this was a good idea. Putting partners at risk and ofc customers

Last time I worked, which was 5/10 it was if you tested positive you had to self isolate, and could only come back with a negative test (after x amount of days depending on state requirement) and /or symptom free for 24 hrs after said self isolation. Those who have been directly exposed to someone who tested positive may work may work if they are fully vaccinated (including boosted if applicable). I’m in CA so this could be just this state.

Idk. We had two people who tested pos. Showed the test and all and our manager said that they still had to work. Even with symptoms. Even now we have someone on the floor who is v symptomatic but is still working. It’s just crazy

Is anyone using the Covid Check? The one that reporting testing results and is a symptom checker? It requires you to input your partner number and password because it’s tracking your answers. If no one is then your SM sounds seriously dodgy. If partners are having symptoms they are not allowed to work. I would call partner resources if you can’t find official covid guidelines on the Hub (there is a whole section called covid resources).

Oh no they are. I believe our manager is just wanting them to work cuz “short staffed all the time” and we get call outs from the same people nearly every day and they don’t get written up. I’m just worried because I have parents who can easily be affected if I bring it home to them.

I completely understand!!! Honestly I would call the ethics and compliance line. It’s not right to put ANYONE in jeopardy knowingly abs that’s exactly what they are doing.

Also while I’m here, the new pay raise seems like a joke. 57 cents extra? Feel like it should be a dollar more or two dollars more because it’s not an easy job sometimes
trbpanda 3 points 1y ago
the new raise puts everyone at a base pay of $15. with less than 2 years on the job you get an extra 3% i think? 2-5 years is an extra 5% and 5+ is 7%. shifts will make 27% more than base pay which will bring them to $19 and some change

Me and my partners are already making the 15 an hour. When I got hired on it was gonna be 13 and the manager told me they had raised the pay. (This was back near September)
trbpanda 2 points 1y ago
damn where are you working that it's already 15 😭 most at my store are at 12 and there are lots of people that ive seen on this sub still making like 10-11ish
cats_with_tentacles 1 points 1y ago
I'm in WA and starting pay is already 15 here as well
sh3nan1gans_ [OP] 1 points 1y ago
It’s in Tennessee! Like in the wealthier part so I’m assuming that’s why? Idk.

A weekly update we got not long ago said that no negative teat result was required to come back to work (after an isolation period), you just had to be symptom free and wear a mask for, I think, 10 days. I believe thats what it said anyways...

But I agree that this isn't a great idea, I am not at all comfortable with working with people still currently testing positive, symptoms or not.

One of my coworkers came in sick asf working without a mask and was always put on bar. Don’t know why she was allowed to work. Covid or not that’s disgusting.
