i hate that we can’t order our drink or food before we start our 10 or 30, it’s so annoying and it just wastes our time, especially when they go by so quickly.

I don’t. Flat out. Everyone understands.. I tell people all the time “DONT start that timer until you have your food and you sit down” we’re all exhausted it’s the least they can do

the sm has complained to me about people starting their timer after receiving their food and he’s told me to start it as soon as i leave the floor so i can’t do that 😭

Dude that sucks … I mean that would be hard for us due to some partners like, going in the back chitchatting sipping their drinks sooooo we are no longer allowed to have ours in the back there’s a sign and they get thrown out .. it depends on the time of day for us too and what’s going on if they need me on the floor I’ll even cut my break sometimes even though my own coworkers scold me for it;-; but sometimes they tell us not to rush our breaks and that’s always nice to hear tbh
I wish they’d understand like even for partners who don’t work enough hours a day to get 30’s that they’re exhausted and don’t need their breaks rushed

i mean were really busy almost all day so i guess that plays into it (either second or third busiest in district) but i wish we could do that

I’m so fortunate to have the coworkers and managers I do… it sucks that people suck sometimes :/ I’m sorry and I hope you can either talk to them about it(I’m not that confrontational🥲) or find another way around having all your stuff ready for your break cause that’s what I did I put my drink in my bag 😂

ME TOO. it didn’t matter as much when my SM allowed us to make our own food/drinks since it took 2-3 mins at most, but now i’m regularly waiting almost my entire break for my drink and food. here lately my lunches have been protein boxes and water or yogurt and one of the peanut butter bars. or i just go to panera next door bc i can order ahead

i’m having to bring my own food now since the waits are so long for them 😕 it doesn’t help that we have to go down to hot bar cold bar in the AM now since we’re short staffed 😭😭😭i usually mobile order earlier for my food in the morning lmao

We started doing task runs before breaks. You might try talking to your Shifts and SM about this if you're comfortable suggesting it.
Basically before someone goes on break, we ring them up and have them do one task while it's being made. The most common ones are CS cycle tasks like:
Change some trashes
Do a load of dishes
Restock milks
Fill the ice bins
Restock bathrooms
It helps keep the store a little nicer and easier to catch up after peak, if little things like this get done incrementally.

If I get a bagel, I will mark it out my ten (so it’s not gone by lunch), but I will never clock out before I make my food/drink. I even go pee before clocking out. Take off my apron. And once I have my car keys in my hand, I will clock out and set a timer on my phone.

several times i’ve ordered food and a drink for my 10 and ended up not being able to eat it because my break has already ended. when a shift asked the sm about it, she said that people should come better prepared for work. fuck my store.

Yeah, I just got hired and this has confused me the most. Like why tf am I wasting my 10 ordering my drink? Other good places ive worked at allow us to order before going on break ?

I’ve started asking when my breaks going to be a couple hours in. If I can get at least a time range, I’ll ask if I can ring something thru prior, I haven’t had an issue with this so far (luckily)

What works for my store is that we tell a partner to get their order in and then do a task. By the time the task is done their food and beverage is ready and they can start their ten. For lunches they just clock off right away and then get their order in.
