turn on ovens/espresso machines, brew coffee (including iced coffee), make teas, fill sanitizers, fill ice bins, bring out refreshers, pastry cart, and then just general restock

Prioritize the best you can for your store! If your store is like mine and you get there at 430am and open at 5am make sure you’re ready for those first customers! I like to grab a few buckets of ice first thing so that I’m ready as soon as my iced coffee is done brewing and the teas are done steeping.

My store has a checklist we go through, I can send you a quick photo of it if that helps

There are open items that take time and some that take effort. Start items that take time, like brewing coffee or running tabs, and then do the items that take attention, ice buckets and stocking, while the others run.

Every morning I (The solo opener) : Enter Starbucks> turn on oven wake up coffee machines > Clock in> Brew 2 batches ice coffee> Start teas while ice coffee brews> (I usually start the “Auto calibration for the mestrena 2 here. Some stores do their cleaning cycles in the morning) get Sani for machines and buckets > Finish ice coffee> Start Pike and blonde> Finish Teas and start prepping refresher bullshit> Start dark roast >Grab Ice and it’s usually 4:30 and time to open.

Like fucking clock work.

Make sure to rotate the breakfast items. And make sure to count the new items separately. Make sure to write down each amount of food items, ex
(Double smoked bacon:35, spinach feta:41,reduced fat turkey bacon:53) just press the receipt button for some plain paper. abbreviating them makes it easier.

Stock cup... accessories
Brew your coffees
Fill Espresso...tanks?? (If empty)
Ice!!
Cup check
Syrup check
Check your whtmch and much syrups
Whipped cream

I know that some store are delivered breakfast sammich overnight but in some regions we have to pull breakfast Sammy’s from the freezer and thaw them overnight for 18 hours. Then those Sammy’s get rotated in during the morning shift. The morning shift usually counts those after the morning peak and then pulls accordingly for the following day and the process repeats.
The delivery for those kind of stores usually happen in the afternoon which then the night shift has to put away and take inventory. Then that same shift counts and pulls pastries for the next day. It can differ region to region.

You don’t count food items when you open the store..
violaaesthetic 2 points 1y ago
Wow, you lucky duck. Sounds like whoever is shift on when your delivery arrives checks the receipts right then and there. Must be nice.
The_xenophile0 1 points 1y ago
Yes you do....🤔 When opening, the new food items need to be counted before restocking the fridges.
BlackberryOpposite31 -1 points 1y ago
No you dont

Hmmm🤔 maybe not at your store but at my location every morning shift, I have to count the breakfast sandwiches we got in our deliveries. Then one of the shift leader puts the numbers into the book
Beg1nAga1n 1 points 1y ago
Yes we do, we have to confirm the receipt and/or adjust if the number of sandwiches we got delivered is different than the amount in the receipt.
