Advice Regarding Harassment (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by GTX3070tithrowaway
Hi guys. I recently got hired at my current store as a SS and since I've been here (3 months), I've unfortunately witnessed a handful of sexual harassment incidents. I've learned that this has apparently been going on for a while now, and at least one person has quit because of it. Two of the three accused are in positions of leadership so none of the women I work with feel comfortable going to our SM about it. I was planning on getting statements from the women involved and documenting all the cases with times and dates and then calling a number I found online for the Business and Ethics Center and THEN going to my District Manager about it. Is there a better way to handle this? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Typically the first step is to speak to your SM. You can also create an incident report on the iPad to report any specific incidents. If your SM does not take your concerns seriously, you would then call partner resources / ethics & compliance along with your DM.

Sorry you and your partners are going through this, I hope it helps.

Hey. Grande rant (?) here. A partner at my store did some pretty awful shit to me, and I don’t feel safe even though he can’t be scheduled with me, and now I’m having to wait to transfer, because I can’t quit because im worried about finding another job. Im sorry this is not really helpful, but know it does happen at other stores (said partner has acted creepy towards multiple coworkers, and my case was apparently the first that was a “fireable ” offense, which is awful that there’s a threshold that one has to pass before it’s not okay with corporate). Business said it’s “not threatening,” so they’re doing nothing. But I’m really upset about it, so lmk if I can help, and I’ll check back to see if anyone else has anything that they’ve found is helpful.
