Tired of it/ Advice welcomed (trenta rant) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by whhwkstk
It's been an uphill battle for the past several months for me with the bux as it's been hard to experience and witness such gross behaviors. I'm currently a young SSV and a partner since 2018. As of my return from vacation, i have endured so much drama and mental/physical stress from this place that i finally caved and told my SM that i would like to step down/transfer as i drive far for this position. She not only blocked every one of my reasons with a 'i dont agree/i dont understand/i dont see' when all i was asking for her to listen. I never even finished the conversation before she stormed off saying 'just hand me your two weeks instead'. Not even an hour later she turns her mood around and begins showering me in love. Fast forward to now, im very awkward around her when i have to work and whenever she asks me personal stuff i tend to just not provide interesting answers. Looking at her just makes me ill... She has texted me asking whats shes done (which tbh shes well aware its just one of her manipulation tactics) and i refuse to answer or fully open the message until i return to work. My close friends/workers says i must find a way to get out of the store without her help as we all know the experiences others have had trying to transfer under her. So to end my long rant, i just ask what it is i can do to transfer out (within or outside the district im in and as a ssv or barista) because i need my benefits still and its really hard to even wake up and go to work knowing i have to see her :(

The way transfers work in my area is that you find a store with an opening and then you apply for that position which will then start the transfer process. I don’t know if it’s that way your area. If it isn’t find a transfer request form, fill it out, and send it with an email explanation of why you want to transfer and how you have asked for a transfer from SM but all they told you was to put in your two weeks. State all your issues and the fact that you have tried numerous time to work things out with said SM.
I’m sorry you are going through this. It’s bad enough having to deal with the crap we have no control over (the outages/shortages, understaffing, and the lack of compassion from customers) but then to have your SM add to the problem. Hugs!

I agree with this! I transferred with my SM’s approval but it was because of me moving. Say that the commute is just too much for you or not feasible and they will have a pretty hard time denying it. Your current manager does have to sign off on it I’m pretty sure, but you could probably get help from your DM if you say it’s for transportation purposes (even if it’s not).

Oooh yes! I will add that transportation is also becoming an issue + gas prices are rising again in my state. It's a whole different district but it's a district i used to work in before i became an SSV so the dm knows me

I was thinking this route since we got a new dm who doesnt eat out my sm's hand. It will be really ugly as well but it'll be so much better after! Thank you for the advice!!! ❤️❤️
