How do I get faster on bar? I(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Puzzleheaded_Doubt38
I know what I’m doing most of the time, but I can’t seem to do it fast enough. Any tips?

As crazy as it sounds the sequencing model does work. Obviously as you get more comfortable on bar and with recipes you’ll find what pairs sequence better than others. If your store has a cold bar person that helps a lot

I second this. Sequence as closely to the model as you're able with the drink combinations you're getting. Eventually you'll know the recipes and where each syrup bottle is that it will take almost none of your energy to think about how to make the drink or what order to do the steps in. At that point, speed is just about how quickly you're willing to move.

Except when somebody orders four heavily modified Venti shaken espressos in drive through.. We have a regular like that, kills our drive through times…

Very true there are some drinks that really can’t be sequenced

Listening while on bar helps, too. if you’re making two drinks on two different stations/expresso machines and hear someone order a drink on cold bar/station that the aforementioned two drinks aren’t on, you can hop onto making that drink while your shots are pouring/your frap is blending.
I’ve mastered this and I think I’m probably the fastest barista at my store — also the cleanest.
