i can’t stand customers who come to Starbucks to preach their agenda. (self.starbucksbaristas)

i work at a kiosk in a store so im by myself almost 100% of the time. i’m typically okay, but when im closing there’s always those weird ass men that come up and preach about their political agendas.

i was making this customer’s drink and he had asked about my SM, because he heard she got COVID. i basically said “yeah, we all went and got boosters after hearing about it. we gotta keep starbucks open somehow”

and this man had the audacity to say to me, “well be careful. scientists are coming out and saying that young girls like yourself are becoming infertile after the vaccine.”

i just don’t understand. i can’t imagine going up to an 18 year old girl (who is literally just trying to make money in college) and saying that to her.

i went home so upset over this. do y’all get a lot this in corporate stores too, or are people more tame since there are teams of baristas working rather than just one? there was literally nothing i could do at that point and i really wished my manager was there to say something. honestly so sick of the bux tbh

I always figure the reason some people must talk politics everywhere in public is that their family and friends won't have it anymore.

We get this from time to time. Mainly we have this one lonely elderly man come in and constantly try to talk to everyone. Sometimes it’s his political agenda. I think he’s learned over the last year to keep the political talk with just his friends when they come in.

no yeah we got lots of it when the mask mandate was still a thing, i would’ve totally followed up with “great i guess i can throw my birth control out then” which the cheeriest voice, id love to see his reaction

Not quite the same but I have regular (male) customers who’ve told me I should take my mask back off bc they can’t see my pretty face. I stopped wearing it when it wasn’t mandatory anymore then caught COVID. So mask up I went.
