Coworkers were telling me they are not, but given what tea is I find that hard to believe

No they are not compostable. It's less about the tea, more about the bag. Just like how coffee filters aren't composrable either

Unfortunately most tea bags are made with plastics or nylon now.
The contents are compostable but the bag itself is not. :(

Interestingly enough, they are not. If you check the Waste & Recycle app on the iPad, it will tell you what’s recycle, compost, and landfill. They fall under landfill.
